Study Engineer - SAR System and Performance (d/f/m)

In this key position, you will take technical lead and execute feasibility studies. You will define the vision for future SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) missions, systems, and instruments, acting as the bridge from the initial idea to the detailed technical concept.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • System Design & Mission Planning: Conceptual design of SAR systems and instruments, as well as deriving customer, mission, and subsystem requirements.
  • SAR Mode Design & Analysis: Development and design of SAR operating modes and conducting comprehensive performance analyses.
  • Advanced SAR Technologies: Design of innovative SAR modes (e.g., MAPS, F-SCAN) based on modern digital beamforming techniques.
  • Multidisciplinary Engineering: Execution of system and interface engineering across all disciplines (electrical, thermal, mechanical) as well as modeling system performance.
  • Project Management & Coordination: Planning and leading the study team as well as managing subcontractors, including time and cost management.
  • Interface Management: Actively representing customer interests and specifying technical requirements (functionality and performance).

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a comparable discipline.
  • Expertise: Sound experience in the field of radar and a strong affinity for the specific signal theory of SAR systems.
  • Methodology: Ability to conceptually create complex SAR systems and proficient use of MATLAB (or comparable simulation software).
  • Languages: Fluent German and very good English skills.
  • Additional Qualification: Excellent knowledge and experience in the field of Distributed Sensor Systems is a significant advantage.
