Structural Analysis Engineer for metal (d/f/m)

Airbus Aerostructures includes four production sites in Germany: the headquarters in Hamburg with three other plants in Nordenham, Bremen and Stade where works goes on today on the aerostructures of tomorrow's aircraft.
Your location
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.

Structural analysis is your passion and you would like to work at a place where you can see the product and challenge the status quo?
In our Site Engineering MAP (Mise au point) Stress department in Hamburg we account for the production, from first metal cut to fuselage delivery to the Final Assembly Line.
As part of the engineering production support team, you will be in deep contact with the Aircraft production using our engineering expertise to solve problems and define improvements. You will work closely with designers and production staff to propose and evaluate solutions for rapid deployment to solve non-conformities of aircraft being assembled. Furthermore, you will shape the future by driving our ways of working in the frame of digitalization.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- You will validate structural concessions (primary and secondary structure) by stress signature delegation, for metal and composite structures, in terms of statics, as well as Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) and provide technical support for the major component assembly in Hamburg during ongoing production and the rate ramp-up
- You will take decisions on the spot to unblock manufacturing. This includes the definition of a structural repair to restore airworthiness, taking into account the relevant design principles, the associated certification and safety requirements and the associated processes and methods
- It will be your responsibility to take the final technical decision on the structure of the aircraft with safety as paramount and with an eye on production efficiency
- You will analyze and approve production improvement modifications with regard to stress according to the Airbus relevant verification methods. This includes the creation of the static verification documents and release of the associated airworthiness documents such as reports and drawings as well as taking responsibility for the assessment and avoidance of non-conformities that potentially affect deliveries and the associated milestones
Desired skills and qualifications
- You hold a degree (or equivalent) in engineering or a related discipline
- You have solid experience in aircraft structural analysis (> 8 years)
- At least two years of experience in aircraft fuselage structural analysis
- A good knowledge in finite element method (FEM) tools as for example NASTRAN or Hyperworks
- Knowledge of Airbus tools (ISSY, ISAMI) is an advantage
- You enjoy taking ownership of projects and driving them with assertiveness while supporting other team members with your expertise
- You need to be able to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
- You are fluent in English
- Openness to digitization (e.g. experience in programming) is a benefit
- German is an advantage. The willingness to learn German is important
