Job Description

A vacancy for a “Stress Methods Engineer” (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in the Airframe Engineering organisation. The successful applicant will join as Stress Methods Developer to the Stress Methods and Optimisation department of Airbus Defence and Space Airpower Business Unit.

About the Team

Spread between Getafe and Manching sites, we are part of the Airframe Engineering organisation and we support the Static and Fatigue stress teams in the area of airframe strength analysis, developing and maintaining the structural analysis methods and software tools (Static and Fatigue) in all Aircraft development phases, and the development and maturation of novel structural technologies (R&T) with application to the Airframe Centre of Competence.

Tasks

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be those ones associated with the development of Stress Methods and Tools, to continuously support the structural strength analyses performed by Static and Fatigue stress teams, in the frame of aircraft structure design and certification processes. This comprises the following non-exclusive tasks:

  • Development, improvement and validation of Stress Methods.
  • Development, maintenance and testing of Stress Software.
  • Derivation of Material Design Values for structure analyses, and definition of mechanical tests for this purpose when required.
  • Continuous support to Static & Fatigue stress teams in the frame of Stress Methods & Software.
  • Continuous support to R&T airframe activities in the frame of Stress Methods & Software.
  • Use and generation of Finite Element Models (FEM) for linear and nonlinear advanced analyses.
  • Transnational interaction activities in the frame of Stress Methods and Tools and Multidisciplinary Optimisation structural analyses.

Qualification

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Completed studies in Aerospace Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in structural analysis using non-numerical / handbook methods: stress and internal loads, static strength and stability.
  • Experience in conducting structure analysis with the finite element method in Nastran
  • Experience in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analyses.
  • Programming skills required. Coding experience in: FORTRAN, Python, C/C++, VB.Net ...
  • Advanced Level in Spanish and English required. Fluency in preparation of written technical documentation in English is a must.
  • Proactive and positive teamwork attitude in a transnational environment.
  • Experience in FEM analyses with Abaqus and Hyperworks tools is a plus.
