A position for a

Software Architect (d/f/m)

has just opened within EW Platform Operational Support domain in Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. You will join “Ground Support Systems Software”.

We develop ground mission systems to support the operation of Defensive Aids Subsystem for our A400M, Eurofighter and Tornado aircrafts.

Our systems enable mission data elaboration, provide the data interfaces to the onboard systems, and support the evaluation of the mission execution in the context of electronic warfare, defensive aids and sensor fusion.

What you will be doing - Tasks & Accountabilities

The successful applicant will join an integrated team developing mission data generation and mission data validation software for Tornado.

As software architect (d/f/m) you will define and develop software solutions:

  • You analyze the use cases and needs in close cooperation with the various stakeholders of system engineering team.
  • You define and realize the software design and the ability to evaluate different architectural solutions and choose the best solution. You are able to understand user workflows and define Software and GUI solutions using specific technologies to support and enhance different steps throughout the mission data production and verification.
  • Further- on you will design and implement mission data preparation and verification solutions with the support of state-of-the-art technologies such as Eclipse RCP, OSGI and Java.
  • One part of your future tasks will be the preparation and execution of software tests to satisfy the different levels of software verification and validation.
  • Finally, you also take care of the integration of activities in the Software Development Lifecycle. You develop according to Software Development Plan and accompanied Standards.


About You - Required Skills

  • You hold a university degree in computer science or equivalent qualification.
  • You consider yourself a Software architect with: Object-oriented analysis and design using UML. Code programming skills in Java, C, Python. GUI implementation for desktop applications with EMF and SW. You have a sound knowledge of development environments (e.g. Eclipse IDE, Git, Maven, SonarQube). Special knowledge in data model design and relational database (e.g. Oracle).
  • It would be an asset if you have experience in Electronic warfare and defensive aids systems
  • You are a good communicator with a proactive mindset and the ability to work in a team.
  • Agile software development processes and methods are not unfamiliar terms for you.
  • You are fluent in English, knowledge in German would be a plus.
