In context of Eurofighter training simulation (PSTS),

In this role, you will act as a Senior System Engineer responsible for a full-spectrum solution for a high-fidelity Eurofighter (EF) training system. This includes flight dynamics and avionic models, cockpit systems, visual systems, control stations and the synthetic environment, among others, across several projects. You will collaborate with other system engineers and architects, as well as cross-functional engineering teams and stakeholders with military backgrounds, to deliver a world-class training device for the Eurofighter, while contributing to the converge toward a common design solution across projects and potentially across platforms.

Located about an hour’s drive north of Munich, Manching is an up-and-coming market town that offers a wide range of leisure and cultural activities. Here, you can enjoy the quality of life in the countryside while the pleasures of near-by cities are still within easy reach.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Define the System Design and System Requirements across several PSTS EF training devices and projects.
  • Manage the collection of system & customer needs, contribute to the definition of the system architecture and the derivation of system requirements, among others - on the Weapon Simulation System (WSS) side.
  • Support the definition of a common Training System Acceptance Criteria process together with the relevant System Engineering Manager and Acceptance Manager.
  • Support the preparation of design reviews with internal and external customers, including SRRs (System Requirements Reviews), PDRs (Preliminary Design Reviews), and CDRs (Critical Design Reviews).
  • Contribute tothe orchestration of a common future PSTS system design solution across projects, particularly related to the Weapon Simulation System (WSS).
  • Be part of the System Design team and support verification, acceptance, and certification activities when required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and project-specific teams and experts to define the common simulator architecture, always in collaboration with the System Engineering Manager.
  • Support the execution of trade-off studies and evaluate optimisations, new technologies & tools.
  • Conduct lessons-learned activities to improve System Engineering best practices for future projects, together with the System Engineering team.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in system engineering.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 to 10+ years’ experience in systems engineering; experience with military flight training devices is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience across the entire system engineering life-cycle for complex systems.
  • Strong proficiency in requirements management and system modelling tools (e.g., Cameo, Enterprise Architect, DOORS).
  • Strong interest in emerging technologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, advanced modelling, automation, digital engineering) and their practical application to improve engineering workflows, productivity, and system development processes.
  • Expertise in simulation and military avionics standards and frameworks is an advantage.
  • Strong foundation in software architecture frameworks (e.g., service-oriented architecture, microservices, layered architecture) and software architecture principles including modularity, scalability, and maintainability, is an asset.
  • Familiarity with modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps pipelines, containerization) is a plus.
  • Very good communication skills with the ability to mentor & support team members and to collaborate efficiently with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Pragmatic mindset and a strong interest in simulation and aviation domain.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognised authorities.

This position also requires a Eurofighter Core Nations Nationality (GE/SP/UK/IT) + FR/SE.
