In order to support us, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

SCC IT System Engineer (d/f/m)

Airbus Defence & Space is actively engaged in multiple new projects focused on delivering state-of-the-art satellite communication payloads to our customers.

The delivered systems usually consist of the space segment (composed by either GEO or LEO satellites) and the respective Ground Segment. The Ground Segment will be composed of a set of Tools which will allow the customer to both manage the Mission Payload as well as to monitor and control the Satellite Platform.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Define and analyse customer requirements and contribute to the definition of the adequate System and Software Requirements, ensuring robustness and compatibility with the already existing building blocks.
  • Define IT System Architecture, with particular focus on the virtualization and containerization layer.
  • Support the coordination of the subcontractors, with particular focus on the System Design phase.
  • Conduct analysis on System non-conformances, discrepancies and waivers.
  • Analyse data from validation tests to determine whether systems and processes meet required criteria and specifications.
  • Plan and conduct the IVV Phase with special focus on the SCC Infrastructure integration and testing.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace, Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science or other related Engineering.
  • Proven experience with IT Infrastructure for Satellite Communication and Satellite Control systems, for GEO and/or LEO satellites.
  • Experience in IT Infrastructure design, possibly in the field of GEO / LEO Mission Management topics (i.e. SCC, PCC concepts).
  • Experience in Network aspects as routing, switching, VLAN and firewall configuration.
  • Experience with Unix environment and scripting languages, such as bash / command line, python, etc.
  • Experience with Hardware configuration, such as rack mounting, BIOS settings, iLO or iDRAC
  • Experience in Virtualization and automation, such as Proxmox, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Git, PXE boot.
  • Experience with general system administration tasks, such as Repository manager, keycloak, AD, Antivirus, UHD, IP Address management, etc.
  • Familiarity producing typical ECSS-80C and/or ECSS-40C Documentation such as DJFs, ICDs, VCDs, etc.
  • Knowledge of modern System Engineering methods (MBSE, CAMEO, EA) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AGILE Development Lifecycle (Kanban, SCRUM) is a plus.
  • Ability to operate and efficiently communicate in a multi-national team organisation.
  • Language skills: English and German fluent.
