We are looking for a candidate to become our new Satellite Ground System Engineer (d/m/f) with focus on Mission Control for national space projects within Airbus Space Engineering, located in Friedrichshafen, Germany. You will be a member of the System Architecture & Lead Engineering Team with great team-players aside you.

As a System Engineer (d/m/f) for ground systems, you will be part of a team based in Friedrichshafen supporting our integrated national space mission project teams. You will define the architecture for the control and monitoring of satellites, specify and integrate hardware and software components, and configure the mission control components. Beside the operational activities, you will contribute to our transformation plan that has the vision to become national champion for high-performance Ground-Space Mission Solutions. You will work on concrete operational tasks while capitalising return of experience for future secure space solution improvement.

Tasks & accountabilities

• Definition and design of Satellite Ground Systems: use of state-of-the-art methods (Scrum, Model-Based Systems Engineering)
  
• Requirements analysis and architecture definition for Ground Segments regarding: satellite monitoring and control, interfaces to ground stations, mission planning systems
  
• Design trade-offs and interface management: evaluation and optimization of design decisions, identification of internal and external interfaces, creation of interface documents (ICD)
  
• Specification of hardware and software elements as well as redundancy concepts
  
• Support in defining ground segment operating concepts and training of satellite operators
  
• Cost estimates for Ground Segment development and operation
  
• Support in system development, AIV (assembly, integration, verification)
  
• Contributions to proposals and studies as well as research and development activities
  
• Technical management for the procurement of software components
  
• Interdisciplinary collaboration: Space Segment Engineering, Performance Engineering, Operations Engineering
  

Qualifikation:

• Education and professional experience: completed university degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Communications (Network), or equivalent qualification, more than 5 years of professional experience in relevant fields
  
• Technical expertise: knowledge and practical experience in processes and standards of the space industry (e.g., ECSS, CCSDS), experience in systems engineering as well as with corresponding methods and tools
  
• Adaptability and willingness to learn: Interest and ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new technologies
  
• Project experience: experience working on classified projects (an advantage), experience in managing technical stakeholders (an advantage)
  
• Soft Skills: good communication and presentation skills, team-oriented work style
  
• Language Skills: fluent German and English, French language skills (a plus)

Als Systemingenieur ((d/m/w) für Satellitenbodensegmente mit Schwerpunkt Missionskontrolle werden Sie Teil eines Teams in Friedrichshafen sein, das unsere integrierten nationalen Raumfahrtmissionsteams unterstützt. Sie legen die Architektur zur Steuerung und Kontrolle der Satelliten fest, spezifizieren und integrieren Hardware- und Software-Komponenten und konfigurieren die Missionskontrollkomponenten. Neben den operativen Aktivitäten tragen Sie zu unserem Transformationsplan bei, der die Vision hat, nationaler Champion für leistungsstarke Satellitenbodensegmente zu werden. Sie arbeiten an konkreten operativen Aufgaben und nutzen dabei die Erfahrungswerte für die zukünftige Verbesserung sicherer Raumfahrlösungen.

Aufgaben und Verantwortlichkeiten

• Definition und Design von Satellitenbodensegmenten unter Nutzung modernster Methoden (Scrum, Model Based Systems Engineering)
  
• Anforderungsanalyse und Architekturdefinition für Bodensegmente bezüglich: Satellitenüberwachung und -Steuerung, Schnittstellen zu den Bodenstationen, Missionsplanungssystemen
  
• Design-Trade-Offs und Schnittstellenmanagement: Bewertung und Optimierung von Designentscheidungen, Identifikation interner und externer Schnittstellen, Erstellung von Schnittstellendokumenten (ICD)
  
• Spezifikation von Hardware- und Software-Elementen sowie Redundanzkonzepten
  
• Zuarbeit bei der Definition von Bodensegmentbetriebskonzepten und Schulung von Satellitenoperateuren
  
• Kostenschätzungen für Bodensegmententwicklungen und Betrieb
  
• Unterstützung bei Systementwicklung, AIV (Assembly, Integration, Verification)
  
• Beiträge zu Angeboten und Studien sowie Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaktivitäten

Qualifikation:

• Abgeschlossenes Studium im Bereich Luft- und Raumfahrt, Informatik, Computer Communications (Network) oder vergleichbare Qualifikation, mehr als 5 Jahre Berufserfahrung in relevanten Bereichen
  
• Fachliche Expertise: Kenntnisse und praktische Erfahrung in Prozessen und Standards der Raumfahrtindustrie (z.B. ECSS, CCSDS), Erfahrung im System Engineering sowie mit entsprechenden Methoden und Tools
  
• Anpassungsfähigkeit und Lernbereitschaft: Interesse und die Fähigkeit, sich schnell in neue Technologien einzuarbeiten
  
• Projekterfahrung: Erfahrung in der Arbeit an klassifizierten Projekten (von Vorteil), Erfahrung im Management technischer Stakeholder (von Vorteil)
  
• Soft Skills: Gute Kommunikations- und Präsentationsfähigkeiten, teamorientierte Arbeitsweise
  
• Sprachkenntnisse: fließende Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse, Französischkenntnisse (ein Plus)
