An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Industrial Composite Engineer to join the Airbus Protect Industrial Innovation Team (APUIE1) within the Sustainability Business Unit at our Illescas factory.

You'll be part of the Industrial Composite Technology Innovation and Development team, a highly motivated and engaged transnational group. Our main objective is to mature new technologies in R&T and disseminate mature technologies to improve both current and future programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maturing new composite manufacturing technologies, covering the entire process from laying to finishing, up to industrial maturity demonstration at full scale. This includes the subsequent dissemination of these technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technology development for composites, including automation and integration with process monitoring for predictive quality control.
  • Contribute to the short, mid, and long-term industrial strategy for composite technology (R&T).
  • Support the dissemination of technology across various plants.
  • Define and perform physical trials.
  • Collaborate with partners, such as technological centers and suppliers, on new developments.
  • Lead projects for the industrialization of technologies.
  • Manage risks within R&T and dissemination projects.

This role is based in Illescas but will require travel to other sites depending on project needs.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Fundamental knowledge of composites.
  • Experience in project management (local and transnational).
  • Proven experience in industrializing projects related to composite manufacturing.
  • Ability to define Design for Manufacture requirements and challenge the current state of the art designs.
  • Negotiation-level proficiency in English.


Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of automation and robotics.
  • Basic skills in artificial intelligence and data analytics.
  • Awareness of composite assembly processes and technologies.
  • Knowledge of composite quality requirements, including manufacturing specifications, processes, and standards.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A strong vision for the future of industrial systems.
  • The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and transnational environment with an understanding of the Airbus context.
  • A creative, open mindset with a willingness to explore and learn.
