Job Description:

Are you an experienced aerospace quality leader with an active A&P certification ready to drive operational perfection? Airbus Helicopters, Inc. is seeking a strategic, results-driven Quality Assurance Manager to direct quality compliance, continuous improvement, and operational execution across our Blades, Dynamic Component Repair (DCR), NDT, and Tail Boom operations in Texas.

In this high-impact role, you will lead a dedicated team of 13 QA inspectors, championing a zero-escape culture, right-first-time quality, and Lean manufacturing principles. You will serve as a key leader shaping departmental budgets, guiding career development, and maintaining rigorous compliance with FAA, AS9100, EASA, and global regulatory standards.

Your working environment:

A suburb just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area is home to Airbus Helicopters U.S. regional headquarters, where we have more than 1,000 employees. Check out one of the seven professional sports teams that also call Dallas home - you may even see a special, custom Airbus helicopter dedicated to the Dallas Cowboys flying during home games.

Your Challenges:

Manage Department: 45%

  • Provide leadership, vision, and strategic planning for inspectors. Provide clear daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals for inspectors based on TCOs, Internal customer priorities and Operational Quality KPIs.
  • Establish and Maintain departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets and Top Company Objectives (TCO) and AHNA goals.
  • Oversee the Quality Management system for procedural compliance and internal/external audits.
  • Lead staff to enhance their career development and build a collaborative team.
  • Accountable for the Operational Quality of DCR, Blades and NDT by ensuring KPIs are in place to actively monitor and manage product flow and eliminate any backlog.
  • Accountable for the management of NCs issued in the department by ensuring timely disposition of NCs and effective root cause and corrective actions are completed by stakeholders.
  • Manage employee time and vacation with care to not impact business operations and backlogs.

Lead Inspectors: 35%

  • Develop and sustain a team of Inspectors trained in customer Quality Airbus and Regulatory competency requirements for DCR, Blades and Equipment requirements. Also, responsible for ensuring that special processes such as Non Destructive Inspection are compliant AH/AHD, ASNT and EN standards
  • Ensure inspectors comply with FAA, AS9100, CASE, Transport Canada (TC), UK CAA and EASA requirements.
  • Sustain processes for compliance with FAA, TC, UK and EASA airworthiness issuance with federal regulations. - This is similar to the one above. I would prefer to keep this one also. I made an update as this is intended to ensure our processes meet regulatory requirements, the prior bullet is for personnel.
  • Ensure all inspectors work to the Airbus Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics and Airbus Safety standards.
  • Identify and drive YourSay improvement in the department.

Improve Quality Processes: 20%

  • Lead, mentor and support projects for implementing digital documentation systems including electronic signatures.
  • Monitor Andon and Quality Gate processes to ensure a zero escape culture and measure the First Pass Yields at key process stages and take appropriate and timely actions to improve First Pass Yield.
  • Integrate Airbus Group’s problem solving tools such as PDCA and PPS, into AHNA Regional activities to resolve supplier, internal, and customer non Quality drivers
  • Use data to identify inefficiencies in the process and implement process improvements focussed on Quantitative Efficiencies and Right First Time Quality.

Your Boarding Pass: (Required for consideration)

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience (4 years)
  • Ten (10) or more years in the aerospace industry
  • Five (5) or more years in a management role
  • MUST HAVE a valid, current Airframe and Powerplant License
  • Extensive knowledge of aerospace industry, helicopter MRO components and special processes
  • Ability to lead and direct complex assignments.
  • Ability to manage cost and schedule for large $1M+ projects.
  • Ability to lead teams effectively.
  • Strong facilitation and strategy skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs.

Travel Required:

  • 20% Domestic and International

Citizenship:

  • Authorized to Work in the US without current of future need for visa sponsorship

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 80% Onsite in Grand Prairie, TX when not on travel
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. 70% of each day
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. 20% of each day
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. 20% of each day
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Several times per day
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Several times per week
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Several times per week
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Several times per week
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. 70% of each day
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Several times per day
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. 30% per year
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Several times per day
