You will study towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management at a local University, the course duration is typically 4 years and your attendance will be on a day or block release basis. Project managers are responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a project. They have responsibility for delivering the project in line with defined objectives, taking decisions to manage stakeholder expectations by leading a multi-skilled, cross-disciplinary team to deliver the project to time, cost and quality requirements.

What you will be doing:

You can join the Commodity Management (CM) team, responsible for securing our supplier lines, delivering value for money and developing structured relationships with key suppliers. You will develop a solid working knowledge of certain commodity trends including: cost drivers, global pricing, market and industry trends and material lead times to maintain availability of cost-effective supplies of materials, equipment and services.

Or, You can support and follow Telecom's senior project managers to develop an understanding of the project requirements to the point where you will be able to manage your own project or work package. At this point you will then take responsibility for updating your own project plans and schedules, ensuring deliveries are on time, cost and quality, managing risk and issues and providing regular reports to all project stakeholders.

Via industrial placements, you will also gain exposure to other areas of the business (equipment/spacecraft production, logistics, Product/Quality Assurance, systems engineering etc.) in order to attain a broad understanding of all stakeholder’s activities and to build a strong network.

Whilst at work:

  • Support supplier relationships

  • Cooperate with the (Sub-) Commodity Multi-Functional Team

  • Support the bid, tender and supplier selection process

  • Support and contribute to Procurement/ Value Creation projects & initiatives that aim at delivering synergies and savings

  • Assist negotiations with supplier to assure program expectations are meet

  • Set-up and negotiate contractual agreements with suppliers

  • Conduct Supplier Evaluation Development (SED) and Vendor Management, and define action plans to develop strategic suppliers

Whilst at university, you will gain knowledge and understanding of:

  • Procurement and contract management

  • Quality management

  • Estimating, planning and scheduling

  • Risk management

  • Project change control

  • Stakeholder and communications management

  • Organizational change management

Requirements:

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

  • 3 A Levels at Grades A to C or a vocational equivalent subject to validation

AND

  • GCSE Maths and English Language at 4/C or above

As the successful candidate you will need to demonstrate:

  • Interest in project management, working in a diverse environment with multi-functional teams and understanding the benefits of how projects can deliver real value to customers making their day-to-day life easier

  • Good communication skills

  • Personable approach that will unify team members who are often working under pressure

  • Ability to work autonomously once tasked with an activity

  • Solid team player

  • Ability to work to deadlines

  • Challenge the normal operating mode with proposed improvement/implementation plan

  • Ability to plan/Time Management

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

Important Information:

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the position’s requirements before the apprenticeship start date.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).

Our apprenticeship roles do not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration to enable sponsorship of migrant workers.
