The Wing Engineering team in Filton offers a prestigious opportunity to serve as the Principal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineer during a period of transformative growth. As the technical leader of a highly skilled group of FE modellers, you will be the primary reference point for the validation of complex metallic, hybrid, and composite structures. This role provides an expansive scope that spans all Airbus Commercial Aircraft programs and R&T activities, placing you at the forefront of advancing the number and sophistication of the FE models that define the future of wing design..

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

  • Technical Leadership and FEM Execution: Responsible for producing Finite Element Solutions (FEM) using state-of-the-art processes, acting as the technical reference and key focal point for the Wing Linear FEA team.
  • Strategic Collaboration and Requirement Management: Collaborates with the Head of Engineering to ensure requirements are cascaded and respected, optimize deliverables, and support cross-program prioritization and value stream mapping.
  • Stakeholder Interface and Query Resolution: Serves as the voice to customer/program for technical query resolution and acts as the technical interface with engineering centers, suppliers, manufacturing, and other component leaders.
  • Competency Development and Capability Management: Responsible for developing people towards FEM signatory rights, maintaining skill matrices, and anticipating competencies for future technologies and new ways of working.
  • Process Innovation and Knowledge Capitalization: Approves and deploys new processes, methods, and tools (PMT) while emphasizing product knowledge capitalization re-use (PKCR) through connections with external partners and universities.

ABOUT YOU:

  • A significant and relevant experience on the Wing component (Across all programmes and product development plan (PDP))
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects effectively and accurately at all levels within the business
  • Ability to lead transnational teams and suppliers in the analysis of complex technical problems
  • Excellent technical knowledge and FEM signatory
  • Experience in Airbus Finite Element tools
  • Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or equivalent
