Master Thesis student for the "ZEROe System Installation" improvement in hydrogen pipes (d/f/m)

Duration: 6 months

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Investigate and develop lightweight solutions for hydrogen piping systems, with the explicit goal of achieving improved fault tolerance. This will build upon initial assessments from milestone reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with the development and Type Pipe teams to identify and refine critical open questions regarding potential weight reduction and lightweight applications within routing concepts. This collaboration will be key in defining the precise scope of your thesis Evaluate and compare existing pipe routing concepts and their components for their suitability with lightweight materials, adapting them as necessary to optimize performance and enhance their attractiveness, particularly in terms of fault tolerance.
  • Select a specific component for detailed design and analysis, focusing on its integration and performance within a lightweight hydrogen piping system, always keeping the objective of improved fault tolerance in mind.


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Full-time enrolled master student (d/f/m) within Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background
  • Strong background in aeronautics
  • Knowledge of hydrogen as propulsion medium is beneficial
  • Highly motivated, proactive and creative mindset
  • Fluent in English and German
