About us:

The Materials Laboratory function provides specialist services to various departments at Airbus in the UK, Broughton and external customers and suppliers. The department carries out a wide range of technical activities in support of various customers, some examples are described below:

Mechanical Testing - Carrying out all testing of a mechanical nature - such as testing of heat treatment control coupons. UTS and pre-load testing on mechanically fastened joints.
Chemical - Control and monitoring of chemicals used in surface treatments facilities. Chemical analysis associated with performance checks of equipment and consumables. Metallurgical - Investigation of product/material non-conformance including material/component failures. Approval of specialist manufacturing personnel and assessment of suppliers technical capabilities.
