Intern (d/f/m) in “Research and Development of a Data Exchange Method for Engineering Software Tools in Aircraft Production”

For CTC GmbH in Stade, we are looking for students for practical assignments (internships) with the option to continue with a master thesis . The CTC GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus Operations GmbH. CTC is Germany's leading centre for research and development in the field of design and production of large and complex CFRP components; with an international reputation as an expert for process development, series readiness and production optimisation. The focus of the CTC's work is the development of series technologies for the production and assembly of CFRP components in aircraft construction. In recent years, the digitalization of platforms and engineering processes has also been established as an essential new field of competence. Your tasks and responsibilities
- Analysis of state-of-the-art engineering processes and interoperability challenges in modern engineering software toolchains
- Deep insights into the new SysML v2 standard and its standardized API for model access
- Conceptual development of an innovative architecture that interprets data mappings between different engineering tools (e.g., requirements and architecture tools)
- Prototypical implementation and integration of a proof-of-concept that reads and executes these mapping rules
- Validation of the model-driven concept using a practical data exchange scenario inside an Airbus engineering use case
- Evaluation of the prototype based on its flexibility, maintainability, and traceability compared to traditional approaches
- Regular professional exchange and workshops with colleagues in MBSE and software architecture
Desired skills and qualifications
- Enrolled full-time student in the area of systems / software / manufacturing engineering
- A keen interest in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), ideally with initial exposure to modelling languages like SysML or UML
- Ideally, programming skills in an object-oriented language (e.g., Python or Java) to implement the mapping service and utilize APIs
- First experiences with APIs (e.g., REST) are a plus
- Good understanding of software architecture concepts and experience with data formats such as JSON and XML are a plus
- Ability to work independently and on your own responsibility
- High intrinsic motivation, teamwork and communication skills
- Entrepreneurial thinking and acting
- Willingness to pass on own competences in a team and to exchange skills with each other
- Fluent English and preferably good German skills
