Internship within Satellite Onboard Software (d/f/m)

Are you looking for an internship and want to get to know the work of a Software Engineer? Then apply now! We look forward to you supporting us in Onboard Software Friedrichshafen as an intern (d/f/m)!

  • Location: Immenstaad
  • Start: as soon as possible
  • Duration: 6 months

The Onboard Software Department (TSEAO2) is responsible for developing flight software for ENS satellite missions. Our team works on innovative solutions that ensure the reliability and performance of satellite systems in space. We are currently seeking a motivated and talented intern to join our team and contribute to the development of a next-generation software architecture.
In the realm of satellite onboard software the usage of generative artificial intelligence comes with a lot of constraints. Space software not only is rather different from open source embedded software, but also more mission critical. Moreover, due to legal restrictions of the space sector the usage of the most common chatbots is not possible. So internal solutions are needed that suffer from less computational power than leading companies as Google or OpenAI can provide. In this demanding environment, generative AI still can provide several advantages to improve and speed up software development. This thesis aims at establishing a set of use cases to develop generative AI tools based on a smaller existing LLM instance to assist software development for satellite onboard software.
