The jobholder will take over the Outboard Equipment Design Engineer responsibilities as a System Design Responsible (SDR), covering all the activities required for the design, integration, verification and validation (V&V), and certification of Outboard Equipments (e.g., Cargo Hook) for civil platforms (EC135, BK117, H160) and NH90, including the following main tasks:
- Participate in all the phases of the product, from specification to customer in-service support: conceptual and detail design, support to production (non-conformity assessment, etc.), support to testing activities, generation of evidence for certification/qualification purposes and customer support.
- System compliance demonstration with respect to the allocated requirements: system/ subsystem design, problem analysis on system/subsystem/equipment level and for the definition and approval of the test equipment and test means.
- Verify the compliance of a detailed design solution toward the baseline of validated requirements for a single system / sub-system / equipment.
- Develop modifications and retrofits within timescales as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team.
- Adapt design solutions to real Helicopter configuration in a brief period of time.
- Define a Maintenance Program for the system / sub-system / equipment in accordance with general requirements.
- Identify the activities of the development life cycle that are necessary to develop a system/product and provide the level of confidence which is consistent with regulation and program requirements.
- Define milestones and reviews with associated maturity expectations aligned with program phases and gates.
- Provide sufficient detailed data and information about system elements to enable the implementation consistent with architectural entities as defined in models and views of the system architecture and in accordance with the allocated requirements.
- Work closely sharing both industrial and functional design view, from the very early stages of the design through the serial production phase and up to the in- service life of the product (whole product lifecycle), working in close collaboration between the Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and any other disciplines involved throughout the whole product lifecycle.
Technical skills
- Mandatory: 5 years of experience working in Systems Engineering with Helicopter Equipment, Change management (ECR/ECP management), Knowledge of AH Manufacturing and Maintainability processes.
- Desirable: CATIA V5, SAP, B-Flow, Windchill, Nectar, Orion
- Ability to communicate technical subjects effectively and accurately to non-specialists.
- Technical team lead experience would be a plus

This role may involve some travel for business to Germany (mainly) and France (occasionally); as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
