An opportunity for a Hydraulics & Actuation Systems Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid).

The selected candidate will join the Hydraulics and Actuation Team within Airbus Defence and Space. The team is responsible for developing complex aircraft systems, including hydraulic system modifications, Large Weapon Bay (LWB) actuation systems, and EO/IR turret deploying systems for the Military Derivatives programs.

The jobholder will reinforce the department by taking part in the definition, design, supplier management, and integration of complex actuation and hydraulic systems to ensure successful certification and operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main tasks of the jobholder will be:

  • Coordinate internal and external workpackages , program planning, and development plans for the Military Derivatives actuation and hydraulic systems.
  • Define overall system architectures and designs for LWB actuation, ATA29 hydraulics, and EO/IR lift systems.
  • Manage technical interfaces with flight physics, airframe, control/monitoring, and transversal teams (safety and certification).
  • Specify actuation equipment and EO/IR lift systems, lead supplier selection, and coordinate supplier activities.
  • Define system requirements , installation requirements (including rigging), and system-level Validation & Verification (V&V) strategies.
  • Execute overall system simulations and support test definition across laboratories, ground tests, and flight tests.

  • Education: Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least 5 to 10 years of professional experience in aircraft systems engineering, program management, or team coordination.
  • Soft skills: High adaptability to work on new topics, new business, and in a networking mode.
  • Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written & spoken).
  • Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, mechanical systems, aircraft certification processes, and V&V testing means.
  • Valuable / Nice to have: Knowledge of Airbus procedures (commercial and/or Defence and Space) and program management experience will be valued.
