As an employee of Aerostack, a Joint Venture between Airbus and an automotive company, and in line with Airbus strategy to accelerate Zero Emission Aircraft development, you will be part of a collaborative team developing PEM fuel cell stack for aeronautic applications.

The jobholder will a member of the research department and lead a small team simulating and modeling electrochemical aspects of PEM fuel cell technology

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leading the simulation team
  • Improving technical skills of the team as well as soft skills
  • Designing, establishing and operating a simulation platform within Aerostack
  • Simulation platform shall combine beside electrochemical modeling also fluid dynamics, structural mechanics and Multiphysics simulation
  • Simulation platform shall lead the complete technical simulation process, from initial conceptual 1D/3D models to delivering the “Digital Twin”
  • Ensure proper documentation
  • Start activities to use ML or AI for all modeling and simulation needs
  • Work cohesively with all other teams and departments
  • Support other teams with relevant modeling activities
  • Focal point for suppliers of software with procurement
  • Managing external service providers

Organization structure

The job holder reports operationally and functionally to the Head of Research.

Qualifications

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate some of the following competences & skills:

  • Master degree or PhD in computer science, aerospace engineering or similar discipline
  • Background in PEM fuel cell technology is a benefit
  • Management experience in leading a team for at least 5 years
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, electrochemistry and mechanical engineering
  • Experience in building seamless E2E Digital Integration Platform: Treat the platform as a product. Work with stakeholders in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Sales to build features that solve actual floor-level and C-suite problems
  • Digital Portfolio Management
  • Define and execute a multi-year technical roadmap, ensure scales match our industrial growth within Time, Cost and Quality Targets
  • Lead the end-to-end architecture, including Industrial IoT (IIoT) connectivity, data lakes, API layers, and front-end business applications
  • Proficiency in managing large-scale data ingestion and analytics
  • Profound knowledge of Python and following tools
    • 3D-CAD tools (e.g. 3DX)
    • FEM and CFD simulations
    • Multiphysics
  • Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches
  • Engage, develop and motivate the team, within Aerostack Values using the HR processes & development tools
  • Build a trustful and inclusive environment, promoting collaboration facts driven decisions and an out of silos mindset
  • Ensure deliverables on time, cost and quality; escalate risks and opportunities
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement by detecting and eliminating non added-value activities
  • Secure the business at short/mid/long term, contributing to increase Aeorstack's profitability
  • Pragmatic mindset, strive for simplicity, capable of thriving in a multidisciplinary and multicultural setting, and possess a "Can-do attitude" with a strong drive for execution.
  • Being self-motivated and executive on critical timelines
  • Having good verbal and written communication skills
  • German and English fluently
