Job Description:

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Head of Logistics and Transport to join our Supply Chain department based in Kinston, NC.

The person in this role will lead the teams responsible for internal logistics and warehousing, general transport and oversized cargo as well as all suppliers supporting the logistics and transport operations. The Head of Logistics and Transport at Airbus Aerosystem Kinston is a senior leadership role responsible for managing the end-to-end logistics and transportation operations that support aircraft manufacturing and delivery. The position ensures that materials, components, and finished products move efficiently through the global supply chain.

Your Working Environment:
The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges:

Logistics Strategy: 20%

  • Develop with the support of the commodities and implement global and local logistics and transportation strategies aligned with the plant production, the delivery schedules and the central transport team PIT.
  • Optimize inbound and outbound logistics flows for raw materials, aircraft components and assemblies to the production stations and customers.
  • Ensure cost efficiency while maintaining reliability and safety.

Transport Operations Management: 20%

  • Oversee multimodal transportation including air, sea, road, and specialized aircraft transport.
  • Coordinate movement of large aircraft parts (A350 section 15 panels, spars, FLS).
  • Manage transport networks between Airbus Aerosystem Kinston and Airbus manufacturing sites.

Supply Chain Coordination: 20%

  • Work closely with procurement, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components.
  • Ensure logistics processes support production lines such as those for the Airbus A320, Airbus A350, and Airbus A380.

Team Leadership: 20%

  • Lead large international logistics teams across multiple sites.
  • Manage logistics managers, transport planners, and warehouse teams.
  • Build capabilities in supply chain planning and digital logistics coordinating and panning with 5+ suppliers that are not connected to Airbus Systems
  • Digitalize the logistic flows of the plant to provide an accurate and real time visibility of all Logistics flows.

Performance & Cost Control: 10%

  • Monitor logistics KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and inventory levels.
  • Identify efficiency improvements and reduce transportation, scrap and consumption costs.

Compliance & Risk Management: 10%

  • Ensure compliance with aviation, customs, and international regulations.
  • Manage logistics risk including delays, disruptions, and capacity shortages.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering or Business Administration
  • 15+ years in logistics, supply chain, or transport management.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or complex manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing large global teams.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing

Experience in Airbus Operating System

Spanish/French/German speaking

Technical platforms:

  • SAP / ERP supply chain modules
  • Transport Management Systems (TMS)
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Data analytics and forecasting platforms

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite: 100%
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. . Daily
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. . Daily
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. . Daily
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. . Daily
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. 5%
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
