Description / Overall Purpose of the Job
The Head of Business Transformation & Operational Excellence is the primary architect of AHUK’s operational-commercial synchronization. This senior role bridges the gap between commercial commitments and operational execution by ensuring that the work we perform, underpinned by robust estimates, schedules, and cost baselines are inextricably linked to contract profitability and customer performance requirements through a "single source of truth" .
You are responsible for leading the digital evolution, business process and efficiency changes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to drive lower costs and industry-leading performance for major customers like the UK MoD and National Police Air Service.
Planning & Operational Control
- Commercial-Operational Synchronisation: Innovate and set up actionable links between commercial KPIs and operational delivery through improved communication, ways of working, visual management of target setting, monitoring and controls.
- Baseline Management: Develop and maintain robust cost baselines to ensure multi-million pound programs are delivered on-cost and aligned with contract bids.
- Single Source of Truth: Oversee the business’ digital footprint to ensure all teams operate from a common, reliable data set, synchronizing commercial and engineering functions.
- Visual Management: Translate complex user requirements into intuitive, automated visual solutions and dashboards to synchronise teams around real-time performance.
- Business Process: take a holistic view on business processes and adapt as necessary to achieve a lean, competitive, agile business.
Digital Transformation & Data Integrity
- System Administration: Act as the functional administrator for Envision and airworthiness systems, ensuring they remain reliable and capable of meeting all reporting needs.
- Architecture & Security: Design and maintain robust, future-proof data architecture while proactively increasing data security across business-owned tools.
- Actionable Insights: Lead a team of developers and analysts to turn complex data into actionable insights, holding accountability for the business's KPI structures.
Leading Change
- Visionary Strategy & Execution: Act as the visionary leader responsible for identifying the medium and long-term transformation strategy and leading the execution across all parts of AHUK business.
- Transformation Program Management: Lead the overarching governance of the transformation program, progressing projects and escalating risks during monthly reviews with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
- Financial & Investment Stewardship: Align with the Finance Director the company financial benefits and investments allocated to the transformation program, ensuring clear ROI through reduced costs and improved productivity.
- Culture & Competitiveness: Drive a continuous improvement culture, implementing new ways of working and multi-functional teams to achieve industry-leading competitiveness.
- Line Management & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of BI and Application developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and problem-solving.
Essential Skills:
- Transformation Leadership: Proven ability to manage complex project portfolios and lead governance reviews with senior stakeholders.
- Industrial Operations Experience: Demonstrate experience of leading significant transformational change at shop floor operations level either in a production or MRO context - the role demands business change experience.
- Technical Architecture: Experience creating robust data structures and managing the integration of multiple business systems.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to translate complex business needs into technical specifications and manage customer expectations.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Envision (or similar MRO systems) and experience with BI platforms like Looker or Oracle APEX .
- Data Driven: Strong SQL/PLSQL skills and a deep understanding of data modeling and visualization.
Desirable Skills:
- Aviation Context: Knowledge of airworthiness standards and helicopter or fixed wing maintenance operations.
- Cloud Ecosystems: Experience with the Google Cloud ecosystem and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Additional requirements
- Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance.
- Applicants must meet any/all requirements of Export Compliance Regulations.
