Finite Element Analysis Specialist - Linear Static Analysis

Job Description:

This position is placed under the authority of the Aerostructures Data Management at Airbus India Private Limited and is dedicated to Finite Element Model Factory activities. This critical role ensures operational excellence by serving as the essential link between our Airframe FEM community and the strategic suppliers and Airbus India FEM & Stress teams. The FEM Factory team, in the Structures department, develops the DFEM (Linear NASTRAN Detailed Finite element models) for various aircraft programmes across different lifecycles of aircraft development. The FEM Factory is a strategic transformation project aiming to optimize the creation of Finite Element Simulation models with a view to improve overall efficiency.

Job Description:

  • Engineer with 10+ years of experience with strong knowledge of DFEM (Linear NASTRAN model build and analysis)
  • Assessing the static strengths using Linear Finite Element Analysis to evaluate the structural integrity
  • Interface between Airbus EU customers (Wing, Fuselage, RFE) and FEM Factory strategic supplier
  • Coordinating with Airbus internal teams (design / stress) and suppliers on different work packages.
  • Reviewing and approving the DFEM models as per AIRBUS standards.
  • Automating simulation lifecycle processes to reduce manual efforts and simulation timelines
  • Strong drive for technical autonomy and commitment to achieving AIRBUS technical signature delegations.

Required Domain Expertise:

  • Strong engineering fundamentals including knowledge of Engineering mechanics, Strength of materials and Stress analysis of metallic and composite structures
  • Strong understanding of the different types of structural analysis (Static, buckling etc.)
  • Strong understanding of AIRBUS DFEM (Linear) process documents (M2036 etc.)
  • Strong AIRBUS product & component knowledge (eg. Wings)
  • Experience of building DFEMs in Hypermesh
  • Understanding of different types of linear solvers in Nastran like SOL 101, 103 and 106.
  • Experience of working on Nonlinear solutions in Nastran (would be added an advantage - Sol 400)
  • Experience of working on static condensation in Nastran
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Advocate quality mindset and first time right while delivering DFEMs
  • Challenge the status quo on existing AIRBUS methods and propose improvements
  • Having experience on working AIRBUS sizing tool (ISAMI) would be an added advantage

Required Profile:

1. Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (B.E / M.E / M. Tech) in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.

2. Leadership & Behavioral Skills

  • Coordination: Ability to coordinate the efforts of a large team of diverse specialists and subject matter experts.
  • Supplier Management: Ability to manage suppliers and their KPIs to meet Time, Cost, and Quality (TCQ).
  • Communication: The job requires the ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment and maintain good verbal & written English skills (a must).
  • The job requires travel to Europe, as and when needed by the business.
  • Culture: Strong capacity to understand and align with Airbus culture, procedures, and customer needs.
