College: Coleg Cambria (year 1) and Gower College (years 2 and 3)
Qualification: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Mechanical or Electrical Operations (Year 1) AND BTEC Level 3 Award in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering IWFM (Year 1) AND WFM Level 3 apprenticeship framework in Facilities Management (Years 2 & 3)

About us:


The Airbus Facility Management Technical Apprenticeship gives you the full learning experience with 3 whole years of invaluable industry experience. Achieve a Level 3 apprenticeship framework in Facilities Management with IWFM whilst earning a full-time salary and paying ZERO fees to do so.


This unique 40 month programme not only offers you a Level 3 framework, but together with vocational training and placements in various teams and projects focusing on maintenance, sustainability, and health and safety, you will develop high engineering skills recognised across the globe.


What you will be doing:

You will be studying in year 1 at Coleg Cambria and in years 2 & 3 with Gower College and will have a unique opportunity to couple this learning with practical, industry - based work that will take place at our world leading aircraft manufacturing site in Broughton, (near Chester) North Wales.

Your scheme will begin with the first 8 months being off site on full-time academic & vocational study, before moving to a full week in placements apart from your academic day as detailed by your academic provider as you progress into your 2nd and 3rd years. During your placement, you will be working on-site at our Wing Manufacturing Centre of Excellence where you’ll work with a range of different teams. The disciplines you will cover include:

  • Facilities Services, incorporating Planned and Reactive Maintenance

  • Sustainability

  • Minor Works Projects

  • Health and Safety

The types of activities you will be involved in include:

Facilities Services

  • Work as an engineer to support any daily issues on site as well as ensuring robustness of planned preventative maintenance;

  • Work with our external service provider partners to ensure service delivery;

  • Review the infrastructure layout to develop new solutions, optimising asset performance and standardisation of equipment;

  • To be able to technically evaluate external supplier workmanship standards;

  • Developing projects/designs that will reduce issues and improve reliability.

Sustainability

  • In conjunction with the Energy and Asset Management teams, identify opportunities and improvements to deliver investment programmes, that should also deliver total cost of ownership including the incorporation of sustainable engineering.

Minor Works Projects

  • Work as an engineer to develop infrastructure specifications that improves, optimises and standardises our assets;

  • Evaluate technical proposals to ensure that supplier submissions align to the asset strategy so that all relevant technical challenges are submitted to deliver efficiencies and performance within the requirements;

  • Understand the infrastructure technical impact against proposals in relation to energy and ongoing maintenance requirements.

Health and Safety

  • Attain a thorough understanding of your health and safety responsibilities and best practices;

  • Gain a full understanding of all the legislative requirements within the scope of the commodity (electrical or mechanical);

  • To carry out audits of the infrastructure systems to ensure compliance on the site.

Requirements:

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above which must include Maths, English Language and Science (C in Physics or double award in Science at minimum CC).

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Submit your CV stating your grades and if they are predicted or achieved;

  • Submit a Cover Letter stating your motivations.

Important Information:

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the required grades before the apprenticeship start date.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).

Our apprenticeship roles do not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration to enable sponsorship of migrant workers.
