Maintenance Improvement Project Manager (d/f/m)

Helicopter maintenance is an important task for Airbus customers.
Therefore, maintenance costs must be optimised to maximise the availability of the helicopter fleet and meet customer expectations.

As an Maintenance Improvement Project Manager, you will be the driving force behind maintenance improvement initiatives for the Airbus Helicopters light-twin family. This role sits at the critical intersection of the Design Office and Support & Services, requiring a self-motivated professional capable of navigating internal networks to deliver high-impact maintenance concepts and improvements. You will act as the technical focal point ensuring our systems remain maintainable, cost-effective, and compliant with global aviation standards, having a real impact at the customer base while keeping a competitive edge in the market.

Your location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Coordinate maintenance improvement projects from inception to completion, managing scheduling, risk mitigation, and budget oversight. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Program Support Officer, and Program Management
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the bridge between the Design Office, Support & Services, and external hardware/engineering suppliers.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage a diverse network of high-level stakeholders, including:
    • Regulatory bodies (EASA)
    • Chief Engineering, Program Management, and Design Office Lead Functions.
    • External partners (End customers, hardware vendors, and engineering subcontractors).
  • Process Management: Drive the Change Management process and navigate the Certification roadmap for maintenance-related modifications
  • Occasional Business trips to the Marignane site or to suppliers and customers.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Completed Master’s degree (Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering) and extensive experience (min. 8 years) and further training, or a doctorate following your studies
  • Good communication skills and know how to communicate with different stakeholders and at all hierarchical levels
  • Several years of experience in the helicopter development process and helicopter maintenance
  • Several years of experience in project management, incl. scheduling, risk and budget management is advantageous
  • Good knowledge of customer operations, maintenance metrics, helicopter architecture and systems, agile development principles, requirements management, and helicopter certification
  • Language skills: English - fluent; German - a distinct advantage
