Engineer for Aerodynamics (d/f/m)

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Deliver aerodynamic models and data for loads assessment, aircraft performance and handling qualities
  • In that contribute to design, optimisation and validation of external aircraft shapes, structure and systems
  • Contribute to and define future aerodynamic processes and technologies to keep Airbus at the forefront of innovation
  • Collaborate across transnational project teams and disciplines to secure multi-disciplinary design solutions, meeting customer requirements while delivering on time, cost and quality
  • Apply data science methods to solve aerodynamic business tasks (application of data analytics, machine learning/artificial intelligence and model based system engineering)
  • Provide aerodynamic support to manufacturing plants and airlines


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Master degree in Engineering/Aerospace Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • Sound understanding of aerodynamics
  • First experience in aerodynamic numerical simulations/Computational Fluid Dynamics, wind tunnel test or flight test
  • Expertise in digitalization topics e.g. data fusion, surrogate modeling, model-based system engineering, big data analytics, machine learning and cloud computing
  • Good working knowledge of a programming language (preferably Matlab, Python)
  • Knowledge of CFD (CAD, meshing, turbulence models, limitations) would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with data science (machine learning and artificial intelligence) would be an advantage
  • Aptitude for complex problem solving and innovation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Team oriented empowered mindset with strong customer focus
  • Fluency in English mandatory, good German skills beneficial


This role will involve some travel for business worldwide and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
