At Cabin and Cargo Design Office we are looking for a Systems Engineer (system software design) in the area of Cabin Connectivity and Wifi Systems.

Your location

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. The focus of the work is on connectivity backbone solutions for A350 (Freighter), SingleAisle and LongRange. The system design is based on program and product spanning Hardware equipment and software brix. Another important aspect of connectivity system development lies in the nature of the system. For cabin and cargo systems, it serves as a gateway to various communication interfaces to the Internet and Airbus Ground infrastructures and services. On the other hand, it provides various services for the connected systems, such as an app/virtual machine hosting platform, a central data broker and services in connection with central avionic systems.
The work is very varied due to the wide range of possible uses and interfaces of the backbones. In addition, the systems are continuously being further developed with regard to new connectivity technologies.

Your tasks and responsibilties:

  • Creation of the detailed system documentation related to the software after the Airbus development process
  • Validation of the system software in the cascade of requirements documents
  • Cross-project cooperation and definition of uniform Software (SW) solutions
  • Control of the system Software development, integration with the Airbus internal and external suppliers, partly with agile development methods
  • Management of system SW verification in the Airbus test areas and root cause analysis of SW problems in service
  • Identification, definition and review of tasks subcontracted as part of system development


Must have skills and qualification:

  • Course of study with a diploma, bachelor's or master's degree in: electrical engineering, computer science or comparable
  • more than 3 years in system engineering or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of the following technical disciplines: mobile telecommunications technologies, WiFi technologies, IoT and/or avionics systems, virtualization solutions and IT protocols
  • Experience with RBE tools (DOORS etc.)
  • Experience with validation & verification of software
  • Experience in agile development methods Agile/Scrum and DevOPS environments


Preferred skills and qualification:

  • Knowledge of projects/architectures such as Airspace Link, FSA-NG, ALNA, FCMS, Upgrades Backbone, Smart Freighter, iSpot, HBC+, etc. is an advantage
