WE’RE LOOKING FOR A DIRECTOR, PROGRAMS & AIRCRAFT COMPLETIONS

POSITION LOCATION: FORT ERIE, ONTARIO

The Director, Programs & Aircraft Completions is responsible for the overall performance of the Program Management & Aircraft Completions departments for Airbus Helicopters in Canada. The Director, Programs & Aircraft Completions is responsible for managing day to day challenges, providing support and leadership to the team, and ensuring defined deliverables & key performance indicators are met.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management:

  • Accountable for the overall financial & operations performance of all aircraft programs
  • Provide drum beat for successful execution of program plans, schedules and budgets
  • Mentor PM staff to higher levels of autonomy and ability to manage complex projects
  • Ensure lessons learnt from past projects are incorporated into program planning and control
  • Ensure superior customer experience is maintained at all phases of the project
  • Update program financials, determine root cause & corrective actions for variances
  • Participate in the validation of pricing rules and guidelines proposed for aircraft options sold to customers during new helicopter completions or aircraft MRO
  • Develop and be accountable for annual OPEX budget and monthly forecasts
  • Manage yearly aircraft allocation with FAL (AH, AHD, AHI)
  • Drive the process to define the basic aircraft configuration to maximize the group cost-efficiency
  • Support the S&OP meetings and coordinate with Finance medium to long range planning
  • Support sales team by providing valuable technical insights and act as a catalyst during the RFQ
  • Support Complex / Strategic Offers from regional level
  • Ensure ATPs are released in a timely manner to support successful project execution
  • Ensure Pre-contract meetings are conducted before config freeze


Industry & Aircraft Completions:

  • Accountable for successful execution of new helicopter completions & aircraft MRO operations
  • Evaluate and challenge productivity targets and results
  • Define and deploy strategy to level load capacity for aircraft completions and aircraft MRO for Airbus Helicopters in Canada
  • Develop partnership with external completion centres to serve as capacity on as required basis
  • Works closely with contractor staffing firm to level load contract labour workforce in relation to workload requirements
  • Advocates for the application of best practices - capacity planning, shop floor management, etc.
  • Manage aircraft inventory levels. Ensure materials and labour resources are available to meet production schedules and customer requirements
  • Assess the need to launch work in anticipation of requirements and organize tasks accordingly
  • Ensure successful translation of executed contracts into Statement of Work distributed via ATP
  • Responsible for structuring the execution of multiple, inter-dependent projects to optimize speed and value creation (workshare projects)
  • Support EH&S initiatives


Leadership:

  • Lead and align matrix cross-functional team, define pragmatic solutions that will deliver positive results for the business
  • Take ownership of challenges facing the team and devise appropriate solutions
  • Coaches, counsels and disciplines staff as appropriate
  • Maintain adequate resources to perform required business activity - recruitment, local workload, contracting, capacity balancing
  • Make critical decisions in a timely manner with the bigger picture in mind
  • Develop and maintain effective network and working relationship with extended AH team in North America & Europe


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • University degree in Engineering, Business, Management, or Operations Management
  • PMP certification considered an asset


Experience

  • 7 years of successful experience managing/leading Program Management and customization/manufacturing activities in Aviation or related fields.


Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Thorough understanding of Aircraft completion process and well established network within the Aerospace community
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Creative thinking, “can-do” attitude
  • Strong leadership skills & ability to coach/mentor/inspire staff
  • Ability to meet goals and targets independently and without day-to-day active management
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities and undertake initiative to time sensitive demands & deadlines

  • Effective collaboration agility
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Google Suite applications
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Knowledge of SAP considered an asset
