Job Description:

As a Cabin Upgrade Project Engineer within Airbus Customer Services, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering design and flawless project execution. This role is heavily focused on project lifecycle management, planning, and stakeholder coordination, with a strong technical foundation in cabin retrofits. You will be responsible for defining project scopes, managing subcontractors, mitigating risks, and translating highly technical aircraft modification data into actionable business and execution plans-ensuring all cabin retrofit solutions and Service Bulletins are delivered on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.

Your working environment:

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Your challenges:

  • Provides assistance during the Offer Phase by coordinating Technical Offers and validating financial overviews.
  • Responsible for the team interfaces during Service Bulletin/Engineering Order production with customers and supply chain overseeing technical or financial adjustments.
  • Oversee for the team risk management, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders, and finalizing deal closures including lessons learned.
  • Supports the Customer in coordinating the implementation of retrofit solutions, which includes overseeing on-site activities and providing back-office technical assistance as needed.
  • Supports the engineering team during the embodiment phase for issue/queries having an impact on the overall project deliveries and/or supply chain.
  • Responsible for developing the cabin retrofit solutions from global architecture to detailed technical design.
  • Responsible for retrofit engineering drawings with a focus on speed, quality, and cost.
  • Responsible for determining the kits needed to support the retrofit design.
  • Responsible for managing all stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of assigned engineering projects.
  • Responsible for managing subcontractors and associated cost and delivery.
  • Responsible for developing the aircraft certification plan.
  • Supports the certification process as required.
  • Supports onsite modification as required
  • Responsible for answering/resolving queries during and after work instruction and kit delivery

Your boarding pass:

  • Bachelor’s Degree-Engineering: (Mechanical /Aeronautic/Civil /Electrical Engineering)
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience; OR Master’s Degree: Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.
  • Core Track Record: Direct exposure to project or program engineering methodologies.
  • CAD Skills: Proven ability to create, interpret, and review designs using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., CATIA).
  • Authorized to Work in the US
  • Ability to build and maintain an internal network with colleagues globally
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical aircraft topics
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and organization skills
  • Service Bulletins: General knowledge of the Service Bulletin production process, alongside the ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference SBs, Bills of Materials (BOM), and customer modification requirements.
  • Technical Publications (Preferred): Experienced in navigating and using industry-standard Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC) and ATA Technical Manuals (AMM, SRM, etc.).
  • Regulatory Frameworks (Preferred): Familiarity with FAA and/or EASA regulations with respect to aircraft parts procurement, technical documentation, and product traceability.
  • Synthesis: Exceptional analytical agility with the ability to interpret an extensive variety of complex technical aircraft topics.
  • Global Networking: Natural ability to build, nurture, and maintain a proactive internal network with colleagues across global Airbus sites.
  • Teamwork: A strong team player with the relationship-building skills required to align colleagues, airline clients, external partners, and airworthiness authorities.

Preferred Experience

  • Airline / MRO experience desired
  • Aircraft Cabin related experience.
  • Python or other programming language experiencePractical airline, hangar, or MRO environment experience.
  • Specific experience related to Aircraft Cabin interiors or modifications.
  • Professional Project Management Certification (PMP).
  • Basic programming or coding experience.

Physical Requirements:

80% Onsite 20% Remote

Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily

Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily

Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily

Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily

Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Daily

Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Daily

Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Daily

Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Rarely
