Job Description:

The Business Development Director will manage customer relationships of existing customer base and potential new customers for Airbus Space Products & Entities.

Primary Responsibilities:
1) Customer/Relationship Management with Business Development focus: 70%

  • Manage customer relationships for existing and potential customers (commercial as well as institutional, at all levels)
  • Assist Airbus Space Products & entities in their understanding of customer requirements and preparation of proposals; (a) provide information on program/procurement schedule, winning factors, customer decision making process, budget planning, competing products/companies, etc. (b) provide feedback information from customers after proposal submittal. This assistance shall also include the participation in meetings with customers, especially when requested by Airbus Space Products entities
  • Represent the U.S. Gov and space customer needs in the shaping of business development and campaign related initiatives
  • Participate in exhibitions and events in order to present products and develop Airbus Space Products business
  • Support U.S. customer communications relating to on-going programs


2) Strategic Research /Tactical Planning and Execution: 30%

  • Establish and implement annual sales objectives and plans for relevant products in the U.S. and Canada
  • Identify sales and marketing opportunities in the form of Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and pursue support to successful contract signature
  • Formulate sound recommendations concerning bid strategies
  • Support campaigns, matching products and services to needs
  • Identify potential partners in the U.S. & Canada to improve access to U.S. market
  • Perform systematic market analyses, identify technological and commercial trends
  • Understand U.S. Government (USG) requirements and how decisions are made. Communicate how funding is appropriated and provide planning around budget and appropriations cycles. Assist in implementing US manufacturing/assembly capability to mitigate any “Buy American” issues or meet USG space equipment requirements
  • Lead cross-functional teams in creating and implementing strategy on how to build Space Products business in the U.S.
  • Provide recommendations to improve market positioning of the products to achieve competitive advantages


Education:
Bachelor's degree required

Experience:
15+ years experience in the Space Industry, preferably with an Engineering/Programs/Business Development background

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):
Fluent in English

Travel Required:
20% Domestic and International

Physical Requirements:

Operating a Computer, Sitting, Standing, Walking, Speaking, Hearing, Vision, Travel by Car and Plane
