An opportunity for an Avionics Systems Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space S.A.U. (Spain). The selected candidate will join the Eurofighter Avionics Joint Team (AJT) based in Warton (United Kingdom) for a minimum international assignment of 3 years.

The team is responsible for the overall integration of all communications systems in Eurofighter and contributes to other avionics subsystems. The AJT is a highly multicultural environment where engineering representatives from the four Eurofighter Partner Companies (Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK) work together to jointly design and deliver Avionics System and Subsystem levels. Airbus S.A.U. plays a key role in this partnership, particularly leading the Communications group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define contractual interoperability and functional requirements for advanced Data Link systems (including MIDS, VMF, CESMO, JREAP, and SATCOM).
  • Generate Avionics Level 2 designs, including functional requirements, interfaces, protocols, and DOORS requirements traceability.
  • Perform hazard, safety, and avionics clearance analyses to ensure the system complies with rigorous aerospace safety standards.
  • Coordinate system architecture, front-end system level design, and test requirements across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage system problem reports, track design deliverables, and align engineering outputs with international product managers and partner companies.

  • Education: Aeronautical, Telecommunications, Industrial/Electronic Engineering degree or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least 3 years in Systems Engineering (preferably in Avionic Systems).
  • Soft skills: Negotiation and communication skills to agree on designs and interfaces in a multicultural environment; highly independent, result-oriented, and responsible.
  • Languages: Advanced level in English (project language).
  • Technical knowledge: Systems Engineering processes, ideally related to Avionics and Communications systems. Knowledge of project-specific tools (DOORS/RMT, ICDTool, Statemate, or PCMS).
  • Valuable / Nice to have: Experience with front-end development processes in Eurofighter (EF) or similar military aircraft projects.
