Une offre d'alternance intitulée « Alternance 2026 : Data Scientist / AI engineer - LLM for Space Engineering (h/f) » vient de s'ouvrir au sein d’Airbus Defence & Space sur son site de Toulouse.

Cette alternance sera d’une durée de 1 à 3 ans et débutera en septembre 2026 (date de démarrage flexible).

Ce poste nécessite une habilitation de sécurité ou nécessite d'être éligible à une habilitation par les autorités reconnues.

Contexte :

Vous rejoindrez le département Data Processing & Analytics, un département transnational responsable d’outils de big data desservant l’ensemble de l’Engineering, travaillant en forte interaction avec les métiers de l’ingénierie pour le spatial. Les équipes situées à Toulouse où vous serez situé(e) comptent des profils divers (data scientists, project managers, product managers, software developers, big data architects) et est responsable du développement d’une deux plateformes big data internes pour la donnée et les produits Satellite (séries temporelles, données textuelles, données métier).

En parallèle, nos data scientists portent divers sujets notamment :

• Détection d’anomalie pour séries temporelles,
  
• Digital twin et développement de surrogate models en relation avec différents métiers du spatial,
  
• Optimisation mathématique (optimisation de design, architecture, ...)
  
• Natural language processing (NLP) et Large Language Models (LLM).
  

Dans ce domaine, l'équipe porte plusieurs projets de R&D internes et initiatives externes en lien avec des startups innovantes et institutions spatiales, dans le but de répondre aux besoins internes à Airbus Defence and Space en termes de solutions LLM.

L’objet de votre alternance vient ainsi s’ancrer dans ces travaux, où vos contributions permettront d’intégrer des LLMs et de l’IA dans le quotidien d'équipes variées au sein de la branche spatiale d’Airbus Defence and Space, en adéquation avec les contraintes industrielles.

Tâches et responsabilités :

Vous serez sous la responsabilité d’un manager qui vous aidera à identifier vos objectifs professionnels et vous soutiendra dans le développement de vos compétences.

Dans ce contexte, vos principales activités seront les suivantes :

• Etat de l’art sur les LLMs, en particulier sur les architectures RAG et workflow agentiques.
  
• Compréhension des besoins utilisateurs et travail avec le métier pour construire et évaluer vos modèles et automatiser les processus d'entraînement et évaluation.
  
• Contributions aux Roadmaps produit.
  
• Implémentation de la solution (développement python, intégration avec les plateformes de données)
  
• Test de la solution avec les experts métier et itérations successives.
  

Ce stage vous permettra de développer les compétences suivantes :

• Machine learning (IA generative, Deep learning)
  
• LLMs / NLP, RAGs, workflows agentiques
  
• Développement Python avancé.
  
• Compréhension des problématiques du spatial
  
• Architecture des systèmes LLM et plateformes big data
  

Votre carte d’embarquement :

Vous êtes actuellement en formation d’école d’ingénieur (ou formation équivalente de niveau bac+5) dans le domaine de la data science, l’intelligence artificielle, l'informatique ou une discipline apparentée. Une expérience passée en NLP, machine learning ou développement et architecture logiciel/big data est un plus bien que non requise, de même qu’une connaissance ou attrait pour le secteur spatial

Vous possédez ou souhaitez développer les compétences suivantes :

• Manipulation et traitement de données en python
  
• Frameworks Deep learning et LLMs (tensorflow, pytorch, openai, langchain, ...)
  
• Architecture Logiciel / RAG / Infrastructure (bases de données vectorielles, sécurité des données, gestion des accès utilisateurs, hardware ...), intégration front end.
  
• Connaissances spatial
  
• Curiosité, force de proposition
  
• Bonnes compétences relationnelles, présentation de résultats à des profils divers (experts techniques, data scientists, managers, ...)

A new apprenticeship offer entitled "Alternance 2026: Data Scientist / AI engineer - LLM for Space Engineering (m/f)" has just opened at Airbus Defence & Space on its Toulouse site.

This apprenticeship will last between 1 to 3 years and will start in September 2026 (start date flexible).

This position requires a security clearance or the ability to obtain one from recognized authorities.
Context :
You will join the Data Processing & Analytics department, a transnational department responsible for the development of data engineering solutions for Satellites with strong interactions with the engineering professions for space. The part of the organisation located in Toulouse, where you will be working, has diverse profiles (data scientists, project managers, product managers, software developers, big data architects) which will help you onboard and understand the various aspects of data engineering and data science for space applications.

In addition, our data scientists are working on various topics including:

• Time series anomaly detection,
  
• Digital twin and development of surrogate models in relation to different space professions,
  
• Mathematical optimization (design optimization, architecture, etc.)
  
• Natural language processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLM).
  
• In this field, the team is working on several internal R&D projects and external initiatives in connection with innovative startups and space institutions, with the aim of meeting the internal needs of Airbus Defence and Space in terms of LLM solutions.
  

The subject of your apprenticeship is thus integrated into this work, where your contributions will allow for the integration of LLMs into the daily lives of various teams within the space branch of Airbus Defence and Space.

Main tasks and activities:
Your tutor will support you identify your professional objectives and develop your skills
You will contribute to the following activities:

• State of the art on LLMs and RAG architectures, agentic workflows.
  
• Understand user needs, and definition of needed building blocks to correctly build and evaluate models and automate the process.
  
• Building the solution (python development, integrations into data platforms)
  
• Contributions to product roadmaps and internal R&Ds regarding AI.
  
• Implementation of the solution (Python development, integration into the platform)
  

Testing of the solution with subject matter experts and successive iterations.
This internship will allow you to develop the following skills:

• Machine learning (generative AI, Deep learning)
  
• LLMs / NLP and RAGs
  
• Advanced Python development.
  
• Space business comprehension
  
• Architecture of LLM systems and big data platforms
  

Your Boarding Pass:
You are preparing a diploma level Bac+5 (or equivalent) in data science, artificial intelligence, computer science, software engineering or a similar domain, and you will develop the following competences:

Manipulation and data analytics in python
Deep learning and LLMs frameworks (tensorflow, pytorch, transformers, langchain, ...)
Software and big data platform architecture / RAG (vectorial databases, data security, user access, hardware ...), agentic workflows.
Space business comprehension
Curiosity, proactive
Good relationship building and presentation skills, ability to showcase work to various people (aerospace engineers, technical experts, data scientists, managers, project managers...)
Language skills:
