Airbus UpNext Spain has the ambition to deliver a disruptive and innovative project to contribute to the evaluation of an innovative more electric architecture with the aim to provide aircraft non propulsive energy (NPE).

The Power Generation System Lead Engineer position is within the Airbus UpNext subsidiary in Spain.

It consists of a mission on an estimated three-year long project, starting ASAP.

Mission

The demonstrator will integrate complex systems including energy storage, electrical power generation, electrical distribution and conversion, fuel storage and distribution, pneumatic systems, thermal systems and control and monitoring systems within a ground test facility. Those systems will include novel technologies for aviation, and will be integrated in a new system architecture with new operational constraints.

The role of the Power Generation Systems Lead Engineer will be to lead the team which will develop the architecture, specification, design and V&V strategy of the equipment and components associated with different fuel based electrical power generation systems .

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

✔ Lead the Power Generation Systems design team

✔ Responsible for the different fuel based electrical power generation systems specification, detailed architecture, equipment and component selection and design.

✔ Key supplier scouting and activities follow-up

✔ Responsible of the V&V strategy associated the fuel based electrical power generation system

✔ Support to the ground test verification activities.

The responsibilities and the technical scope of the job might evolve according to the agile working environment of the project, so being flexible is important.

You are able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in aircraft systems design and integration activities

  • Proven background on turbomachinery and Internal Combustion Engines

  • Proven knowledge of different aircraft platforms and systems

  • Experience in supplier management activities

  • Master degree in Engineering

  • Keen to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working

  • Ready to step out of your comfort zone

  • Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability

  • Team-Player mindset
