International Business Development Adviser – Defence

Role Outline

The ADS International Business Development (BD) function within ADS is a new function which commenced on 1 January 2023. The purpose of the function is to grow the business and Membership international footprint and influence. It will enhance the offer to Members and showcase ADS’ ambition to be a leader in delivering UK prosperity to stakeholders.

The International BD team will do so through engagements with relevant Government departments, both domestic and international, as well as International Trade Associations and international institutions, through international exhibitions, events, partnering and networking opportunities.

It provides a centralised function across the business to look at international BD, embedding international business advisors across teams to support and enhance ADS’ international posture and offer to members.

The International Business Development Advisers will contribute to the above within a specific ADS sector and report to the Director of International Business Development.

The Candidate

Will have a good working knowledge of the defence sector, preferably with a relevant degree coupled with a minimum of 1 year industry experience, or over 3 years relevant experience.

Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with a desire to develop stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Ability to work effectively with others whilst also managing and taking responsibility for an individual case load.

Good reporting and communication skills, with demonstrable ability to summarise complex topics

Be ambitious and proactive, with an appetite to support the implementation of a new function in ADS.

Willing to undergo a Security Clearance.

​Contract & Benefits

Contract; Permanent, fulltime role, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Location; Hybrid working- 3 days in the London office and 2 days from home (flexible)
