Role Outline

The Executive Director (Prosperity, Innovation & Capability) is a member of the Senior Leadership team, reporting directly into the CEO. The post holder is responsible for providing senior leadership, direction and support to two teams: Prosperity & Economic Data and Innovation & Capability.

The role requires representation of the UKDSC at senior external engagements and visits, hosting senior visitors to the UKDSC and coordination with key stakeholders across government and industry.

As well as being responsible for the delivery of the PED and I&C teams, the post holder is required to contribute the strategic development of the UKDSC including, but not limited to, strategy development, financial, HR and recruitment issues, outreach, brand development and resource management.

The role has 2 direct reports; Assistant Director, Prosperity and Economic Data and Assistant Director, Innovation and Capability.

Skills & Competencies

  • UK national holding UK SC clearance (dual nationals may be allowed on a case-by-case basis)
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment between Farnborough / Home
  • Ability to travel around UK (regular) and internationally (very occasional)
  • Demonstrable ability to work in collaborative environments.
  • Experience in working across Government and Industry on joint projects.
  • Familiarity with the defence sector, including export activities and customers.
  • Familiarity with international defence programmes, international cooperative programme dynamics and international partner customs and practices.
  • A good knowledge of the UK defence science and technology community and the roles of key organisations within that community.
  • A broad understanding of a wide range of defence relevant technologies, together with a good understanding of the defence ecosystem and the challenges of integration and exploitation in a defence environment.
  • Understanding of data management and analytics.
  • Demonstrable team leadership, management, and coaching skills: adept in communicating visions and missions, inspiring and motivating team members.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable independence from the commercial interests of any DGP member company.

Contract & Benefits

Contract: Permanent, fulltime, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Hybrid working- 2-3 days in the office and 2-3 days from home
