The FlexScore® is the result of a rigorous 2-step verification of a company’s flexibility
First we assess the flexibility options Distinction provides and then we anonymously survey a statistically significant proportion of their employees to make sure Distinction is as flexible as they say they are. Our assessment is based on the six key elements of flexibility: location, hours, autonomy, benefits, role modelling and work-life balance.

As one of the most respected, specialist digital studios in the UK, we're proudly independent and autonomous.
Our small, multi-disciplined team has helped over 200 clients in 11 countries create experiences their customers love to use. For over 20 years we’ve driven digital innovation for venture-backed start-ups, high-growth scale-ups and mature organisations looking to change.
Building digital products is our sweet spot, but there’s a lot that goes into it.

We are well respected and have a long history of helping fintechs. It’s not the only vertical we have worked in over the last 20 years, but we see this as our primary focus.
Flexible working at Distinction
We are remote-first - location is a not a deciding factor when hiring or promoting.
We do have a permanent office in Nottingham, which we call our HQ. We also have co-working spaces in London and Boston (US). Our people are able to use any of these whenever they want to.
We don't mandate a specific number of days 'in the office', and instead follow two guiding pincipes (unless there's a reason not to):
Work where’s best
Our people choose which environment is best for them to deliver what’s needed. They are in control of when to come into the office, when to work from home, and what hours to work each day.
Work with purpose
Presenteeism, the act of showing up for work without being productive, is actively discouraged.
We want our people to work wherever and whenever you are most productive at that moment. Whether that be in the office, at home, in a coffee shop, or somewhere else. And whether that be during a normal 9-5 day, early in the morning, or late into the evening.
Coming into the office to show that you’re working isn’t working with purpose. If you need time off, we want you to take it and recharge your batteries. Our generous holiday policy and paid sickness policy (up to five paid sick days per year) supports this.
