What You’ll Be Doing:

In this role, you will be part of the Verizon Global Legal Services team, an innovative legal initiative. You will work closely with lawyers, business partners, contract-management members, and other stakeholders with international and US-based teams and manage a team of lawyers in India. Your responsibilities will include negotiating contracts, drafting transactional documents, contract management, performing data privacy impact assessments, and contributing to other legal practice areas and subject-matter domains based on your demonstrated abilities and experience. Your specific duties will include:

  • Managing projects for various legal practice areas, including Business, Consumer, Global Services, Compliance & Ethics, Sourcing, Privacy, Real Estate, Network & Technology, among others
  • Leading, managing and guiding a team of lawyers supporting these areas, contract management and other
  • Enabling business partners and stakeholders by way of drafting, reviewing, negotiation, and finalization of agreements
  • Performing second level review for complex and critical engagements
  • Negotiating and finalizing agreements in accordance with Verizon’s requirements, policies and guidelines
  • Preparing engagement SOPs, training, and related documents
  • Ensuring adherence to expected turnaround times, service level agreements and requirements
  • Using readily available as well as emerging legal and project management technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Assisting the team in handling queries from and disagreements with stakeholders and other parties
  • Advising business partners on contract related queries and issues
  • Identifying potential risks and making recommendations to business partners and other lawyers
  • Optimizing and improving legal processes to drive efficiency
  • Taking complete ownership during the knowledge transfer phase for engagements
  • Driving change and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For:

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience in Legal work.
  • Knowledge of policies, standards, and processes for managing and administering contracts, with the ability to use applicable processes and practices for managing a variety of contractual agreement.
  • Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization’s exposure to risks of various kinds, with the ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Good understanding of contract and other related laws
  • Strong negotiation acumen.
  • Prudent decision-making skills and excellent legal judgment
  • Ability to balance business and contract goals against legal, business, policy and reputational risks and make sound decisions to take appropriate risks
  • Excellent communication and advanced executive presentation skills in person and virtually
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to drive and guide a team to deliver complex and time-sensitive processes
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify root cause and provide innovative technology driven solutions
  • Team player with an ability to work with cross-functional teams

Even better if you have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be fluent in both spoken and written English
  • Expert knowledge in contract negotiation
  • Technical acumen in Legal tools, AI, and other emerging technologies
  • Familiarity with common project management approaches such as PMP or the Agile Framework
  • Experience in global or U.S. agreements

Time Zone Management:

Should be willing to work from 3:30 PM to 0.30 AM or 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM IST.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
