Verizon’s Corporate Strategy group works with key stakeholders across the organization to develop long-term strategies, drive portfolio evolution, and increase shareholder value. Through rigorous analysis and a structured process, we answer critical questions for Verizon’s executive team, Board of Directors, and other Verizon stakeholders.
With long term value creation at the center of the team's focus, this role will focus on strategy development to create competitive advantage and increase shareholder value. The role will conduct strategic analysis and modeling around potential expansion opportunities for Verizon, weighed against potential risks. Projects for executive leadership and the Board will also inform portfolio investment trade-offs and optimization decisions. This role will lead governance around critical strategic initiatives to drive profitable growth and attractive returns on capital.
This role...
Will be a catalyst to driving the strategy development process and delivering senior leadership the information they need to make some of the company’s most pressing decisions
Will shape the future direction of Verizon through development and analysis of areas of strategic interest, focusing on expanding addressable markets and potential market disruption while leveraging structured analytical techniques
Will support cross-company initiatives to drive alignment and consensus across business units
What you’ll be doing…
Driving analysis & solution development to enable new growth and identify value opportunities across a swiftly dynamic and highly competitive business environment
Leveraging critical thinking & sharp problem solving skills (e.g., data-backed analysis, hypothesis-driven approach, research & strategy frameworks) to support the design & execution of new solutions
Conducting in-depth qualitative and quantitative analyses on emerging trends and upcoming potential disruptions across the markets we play in, including making recommendations in uncertain and ambiguous situations
Demystifying complex concepts and data in order to present clear information and narrative trends to executives, teams, and internal partners
Managing and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners across the business
Developing quantitative models to assess the impacts that various strategies and projects will have on Verizon's financials
Partnering with cross-functional teams to project manage strategic priorities
Assisting in the preparation of materials for senior management and Board presentations
Maintaining a strong understanding of the broader external landscape including consumer trends, competitor dynamics, customer evolution, etc.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of relevant work experience
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Understanding of the telecom and technology landscape, the key players, and trends
Management consulting, investment banking, or internal strategy experience
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative field
Proven track record of presenting complex topics to senior executives
Understanding of M&A, Corporate Development or Business Transformation dynamics within telecom and tech
Demonstrated ability to develop, take over, or strengthen business case models
Intellectual curiosity, excitement about the future of telecom and tech, self-starter, creative and innovative thinker, open-minded and never satisfied with the status quo, and a passion for excellence with attention to detail
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize information, frame issues strategically, and target the message based on the audience
Strong organizational skills and exceptional project management skills
Comfort working across all levels of an organization, leveraging organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and time-management skills

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $120,000.00 and $223,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
