Job Description

When you join Verizon

You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the V Team Life.

What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Business Group (VBG) is Verizon’s B2B division. It generates roughly $30B in revenue and serves customers across four go-to-market units: Global Enterprise, Small and Medium Business, Public Sector, and Wholesale.

VBG’s Strategy team is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and initiatives that improve customer satisfaction, profitable growth, and operational efficiencies, ultimately driving shareholder returns. In addition, the team also leads governance activities, including generating content and setting the narrative for C-suite, Board of Directors, and Investor meetings. To achieve those objectives, the VBG Strategy team works cross-functionally with business unit leaders and other corporate stakeholders (i.e., Finance, Network, Product, Corporate Development, etc.). The portfolio of work spans all of VBG’s go-to-market customer segments - Global Enterprise, Small and Medium Business, Public Sector, and Global Wholesale.

In this role, the primary responsibility will be supporting strategic governance activities and group-level strategy development.

Specific responsibilities and capabilities Include:

  • Working cross-functionally to organize and create presentations for Verizon’s executive leadership team and Board of Directors

  • Developing VBG’s Strategic and Investor narrative as we communicate the group’s priorities broadly

  • Partnering with Finance and Business Segment Leaders to develop the 5-year financial plan and capital planning/allocations.

  • Developing analytical methodologies to answer strategic questions and solve problems

  • Assessing industry and customer trends

  • Synthesizing complex ideas into simple concepts to effectively communicate with senior leaders

  • Evaluating the competitive landscape and the broader ecosystem, not only for benchmarking purposes but also for acquisitions, investments, divestitures, and partnership opportunities

  • Identifying opportunities and gaps across all of VBG’s segments

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience in corporate strategy, corporate finance, consulting, or investment banking

  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • MBA from a leading business school

  • High level of intellectual curiosity and innovative thinking

  • Ability to lead several concurrent projects and manage time effectively

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills – particularly in front of senior executives

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office/Gsuite (macros, pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)

  • Deep telecommunication, technology, or B2B experience

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
