Job Description

When you join Verizon

Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect around the world. We’re a human network that reaches across the globe and works behind the scenes. We anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together—lifting up our communities and striving to make an impact to move the world forward. If you’re fueled by purpose, and powered by persistence, explore a career with us. Here, you’ll discover the rigor it takes to make a difference and the fulfillment that comes with living the #NetworkLife.

What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be joining the Compliance Center of Excellence team, leading the execution of strategic programs aligned to our compliance roadmap and supporting vulnerability and POA&M management across our information security boundaries. This role will support our overall Cybersecurity Compliance Maturity program for the Public Sector and Global Enterprise VBG customer base.

You will be a self-starter, work with a high degree of independent decision making and critical thinking, have a strong sense of urgency, and operate with a significant level of complexity with rigorous accountability aligned to NIST and GSA Guidelines. You will exhibit outstanding project management and communication skills in achieving the highest possible standards when leading a project across numerous teams and groups in a fast-paced environment.

You will responsible for:

  • Leading project execution by communicating major milestones, driving issue and risk mitigation / resolution, conducting regular status meetings and tracking project spend.

  • Continuously monitoring the remediation of vulnerabilities and POA&Ms, in coordination with our cybersecurity and delivery team partners

  • Working with internal stakeholders to identify and assign owners on key activities and get schedules in place to ensure timely completion

  • Assisting with internal and external assessment activities, including vendor onboarding, workshop planning and maintaining boundary authorization schedules

  • Forging positive, cross-functional partnerships with product, sales, operations, information security and solution architects to get the work planned and completed.

  • Preparing and presenting metrics, escalations and score cards to the senior leadership team.

What we're looking for:

People know you for your creative problem solving, attention to detail, and your ability to ask in depth questions, and drive resolutions. You maintain positive team relationships and can communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including top executives. You’re always eager to take on complex problems and see them through to resolution, which earns you the trust of your customers. Putting customers first is not just a part of your job—it’s part of who you are.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance. Additional clearances may be required.

  • Experience creating tactical execution plans that align with key business objectives

  • Proven ability to deliver results, and have the presence and tact to work with key c-level leaders in partner organizations.

  • Managed large complex projects involving multiple work streams and stakeholders.

  • Understanding of project management methodologies and best practices aligned to NIST and GSA practices including Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) management, and vulnerability tracking.

  • Experience bringing various teams together (and regularly) to identify potential risks, and accurately predict the necessary level of effort and resources required for mitigation / resolution

  • Experience creating reports and presentations.

  • Experience managing deliverables in a fast-paced and rigorous environment.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Prior Public Sector experience and Clearances (e.g. Public Trust, Secret, etc)

  • PMP, Six Sigma & CAPM certifications.

  • Strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities, with the ability to build trust-based relationships and manage effectively.

  • Proven ability to drive change and results through influential leadership skills.

  • Oral and written communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to develop presentations and present in high-profile group environments.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
