This Senior Manager - State Income Taxes position offers opportunities to build your career,while growing your leadership and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will be working closely with the US Tax, Finance, Legal and Treasury teams.
The Senior Manager - State Income Taxes will report to the Associate Director - State Income Taxes. This position will support the state income tax function and will have the ability to drive change through the use of process automation and digital tools.
Manage all aspects of state income taxes, including partnering with a Big 4 accounting firm on a compliance outsourcing engagement.
Review state and local corporate and partnership income tax returns and associated work papers prepared by the outside firm, on a separate, combined, and consolidated basis.
Review state and local income tax estimates, extensions, annual reports, and other filings prepared by the outside firm.
Maintain the tax calendar to ensure compliance with required filings.
Assist in analyzing the impact of state tax positions under ASC 740 accounting for income taxes.
Research and analyze a wide range of tax positions, including state modifications, tax credits, and incentives, apportionment methodologies, and filing groups to substantiate and support the state tax returns.
Assist in the Identification and implementation of tax planning opportunities related to state taxes working collaboratively with other department personnel and external advisors. Model the state tax impacts of those opportunities.
Ensure proper documentation is maintained to adequately support the information included on state tax returns upon audit. Liaise with internal stakeholders to respond to audit inquiries.
Maintain multistate expertise by keeping current with the latest legislation and case law related to state income tax. Work closely with stakeholders to determine the impacts of proposed and newly enacted state tax legislation.
Manage the tracking and response to state tax notices in coordination with the outside firm.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes including the integration of acquired businesses.
Assist with other tax projects and compliance as needed.
What we're looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience with state and local income tax.
Strong working knowledge of state and local income taxes.
Experience with OneSource Income Tax.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work and meet tight deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Solid data management and automation skills.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
CPA, Master of Tax, or Master of Accounting degree.
Experience with OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource State Apportionment.
Working knowledge of ASC 740 and FIN 48.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a proven ability to work with individuals at all levels in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation utilizing the latest technologies.
Experience with Alteryx or Qlik is a significant plus.
Ability to navigate and negotiate through conflicting demands to maintain focus on priority objectives while ensuring key stakeholders’ needs are met.
Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Controls.

Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
