This sourcing leadership position will play a lead role in supporting Verizon's categories such as Real Estate, Fleet, Logistics and Energy through creation and management of supplier contracts, which drive cost savings, generate revenue, and ultimately improve margins and shareholder value.
A key aspect of the sourcing role is building collaborative relationships with our internal business partners as well as strategic relationships with our suppliers.
As a Sourcing Leader you will actively manage multiple time-sensitive requests, effectively interface with all levels of management and Legal while efficiently ensuring the sourcing process is completed consistent with Verizon policies and goals.
What you’ll be doing...
You will manage a team of Category Sourcing Experts and actively manage multiple highly visible, time-sensitive activities.
You will effectively interface with all levels of management, and efficiently ensure the sourcing process is completed. Drive end-to-end sourcing category strategy, performance effectiveness/efficiency and value/revenue generation.
Other responsibilities include:
Building collaborative relationships with internal business partners and our suppliers.
Developing strategies and drive implementation to enhance efficiency, process and performance improvement and build foundations for trusted partnerships.
Developing, manage, and drive key sourcing relationships critical to the business and impacting the entire customer base.
Execute supplier relationship management activities for key assigned suppliers within the assigned categories, with oversight regarding supplier relationship management.
Leading various cross-functional teams to develop requirements and reach consensus on business deals.
Making recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, advancement, performance, promotion or any other change of status of team members. Assess employee performance, hold employees accountable, take appropriate corrective actions, and train and provide ongoing direction and feedback to team members.
Negotiating and complete key strategic deals and drive aspects of complex strategic sourcing processes.
Participating in the negotiation of deals.
Partnering with business partners, contracts with management and legal teams, serve as a trusted advisor to developing strategy, objectives, and plans.
Performing analyses of financial and business data related to sourcing operations and capability assessments.
Planning and proposes strategies that best support the business, create efficiencies, and provide outstanding performance. Areas of focus include, securing top supplier talent, maximizing ROI, and attaining KPIs through supplier relationship management.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
Team leadership experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Master’s degree in a related area.
Experience in effective negotiation and influencing
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills.
Effective problem solving and management skills.
Broad-based knowledge of the wireless telecommunications industry.
Relevant work experience working in a large cross-functional culture.
Comfort in working up and across the organization – working with senior staff members.
Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking that results in new ideas that drive the business forward.
Diversified experience with emphasis on negotiations / analysis and relationship management.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be detail oriented with respect to ensuring deadlines are met.
Proven record of performance and trusted professional credibility.
Track record of handling extremely confidential information appropriately.
