What you’ll be doing...
The Data Architecture and Strategy team is looking for a Senior Data Leader who is passionate about innovating and delivering high quality, differentiated enterprise data solutions across Verizon. The Data Architecture and Strategy team establishes the data architecture, Design and Data management policies, processes, products and technologies to ensure data is TAP (Trusted, Available, and Protected).
Verizon builds the network that moves the world and the Data Architecture and Strategy team is fueling Verizon’s ability to do so with data as a key competitive advantage. This presents continuous opportunities to design strategic data management solutions that drive spend, build customer loyalty, identify new opportunities / threats, and guide product strategies for Verizon.
Your responsibilities encompass:
In this role the Senior Manager will manage and lead a highly talented team of Data Architects, Data Engineering Analysts and design teams to drive delivery of strategic data management solutions
Defining Data Architecture Strategy (Enterprise & Domain level) and Enterprise Data Model Standards & Ownership
Defining the scope and purpose of data product solutions, collaborating with stakeholders to finalize project blueprints, and overseeing the design process through all phases of the release lifecycle
Designing data ingestion for both real-time and batch processing, ensuring efficient and scalable data acquisition for creating an effective data warehouse/lakes
Designing and managing framework to discover/organize enterprise data using business taxonomy and metadata descriptions
Defining and documenting data architecture and design, non - functional (architectural) requirements, preparing estimates and defining technical solutions to proposals (RFPs)
Identifying and Driving Automation opportunities to optimize data architecture tasks using GenAI/ML solution
Defining the Data Architecture Strategy for GenAI Data requirements
Providing technical & functional leadership to the project team to perform design to deployment related activities, provide guidance, perform reviews, prevent and resolve technical issues
Building and managing a Data Architecture CoP to drive development of class data products and assets
Sharing and incorporating best practices from the industry using new and upcoming tools and technologies in data management & analytics
People leadership, engagement, mentoring and growth
Building a strong vendor model, vendor governance, and management

You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience in defining and implementing Data Architecture strategy for large enterprise data.
Experience in defining data standards, data quality and implementing industry best practices for scalable and maintainable data models using data modeling tools like Erwin.
Experience designing data products, enterprise taxonomies, data catalog and metadata management solutions to organize and manage data.
Experience with data lake, warehouse and cloud technologies such as Tera data, Hadoop, GCP.
Experience building data solutions for Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.
Experience of working with as well as influencing stakeholders to balance business needs with IT standards and processes.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or business administration
Proven track record of leading large projects in data
Knowledge and experience in building Data Fabric or Data Mesh based Data Products
Experience in defining solution architecture for enterprise systems
Knowledge/ certifications of data management concepts and frameworks like DCAM/DAMA.
Knowledge on GenAI solutions, Data Engineering Development life cycle, and AI & Data Project Management approaches
Certifications in GCP
Critical thinker and ability to demonstrate logical approach to problem solving.
Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders particularly at senior levels of an organization.
Knowledge of business process management best practices.
Business intelligence concepts and data science principles.
Predictive AI and Gen AI experience
