Job Description

When you join Verizon

You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the V Team Life.

What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be a technical project manager within the Data & Analytics Hub (D&A) Organization, Product Strategy, Intake, and Analytics Services Hub. We manage cross team efforts including portfolio projects, project & program intake, product & service resource allocation, and handle communications internally and externally.

In this role, the project manager will support the lifecycle of the D&A (large technical) portfolio programs & projects, leading project and/or portfolio-level reviews, working cross functionally and departmentally with other technical teams, optimizing standards, identifying areas for improvement, reporting development and analyses, performing project & resource allocation management. The project manager should not only be comfortable talking with executive business leaders about individual portfolios, but also help us define KPIs and create/support a roadmap for companywide programs, products, and services. In addition, the manager will:

  • Use metrics and data visualization effectively to report program, project, and/or portfolio performance and support decision-making at the team or organizational level

  • Contribute to the establishment of common practices, tools, and templates for portfolio, program, and project management, and ensure adherence to company and legal standards

  • Analyze key performance indicators to produce reports on portfolio and projects

  • Escalate issues that threaten program, portfolio and project success

  • Drive prioritization with key stakeholders to gain alignment and drive capacity/alignment of D&A related projects

  • Collaborate and partner with various business partners (Finance, HR, etc.) regarding resource management, staffing, budget, etc. as needed.

  • Facilitate meetings, create/publish presentations, and lead discussions related to the D&A portfolio

  • Plan and execute program, project, or portfolio meetings, strategy sessions, provide data for all-hands meetings, and/or operational reviews

  • Develop and implement project management methodologies and best practices to build on the team’s skills and abilities

  • Be an integral member of the advisory team, by connecting program manager/leads to financial planning and investment advisory partners to determine project/program value or costs

What we’re looking for…

You are a constant learner and energized by complex problems. You are able to see the bigger picture and help others see it, too. You are passionate about your work and like to dive into the data to identify insights and translate these into opportunities to enable our stakeholders to connect in new and better ways. You are extremely comfortable working in ambiguous environments. You are a self-starter, a creative and innovative thinker.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience around program and/or portfolio management, particularly within the context of analytic implementations

  • Experience in planning and delivery of projects, preferably within data and analytics projects

  • Knowledge of data and analytic technical domains

  • Proficient skills in Smartsheet, and advanced skills in G Suite, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferably with certifications

  • Executive-level presentation experience

  • Project management certification, including experience with large-scale cross-functional projects

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts in simple, actionable terms and a mastery of Google Slides

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Project Management experience (PfMP, PMP), including experience with cross-functional. Complex large scale implementation

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, projects, and/or complex information

  • Supported CapEx and/or OpEx funded projects

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including communication, stakeholder alignment, and ability to engage/influence stakeholders to take action

  • Strong strategic thinker and communication skills with experience with developing communications, including executive presentations, departmental/center level communications, etc.

  • Experience collecting and providing feedback to drive process improvements and ability to manage complex requests with a strong attention to detail

  • Understanding of project management concepts (e.g., burndown rates, velocity, forecasting, etc.) and D&A software (e.g., Adobe Analytics, SQL, data visualization tools, etc.).

  • Ability to interact effectively across all levels of an organization and cross functional teams, leveraging organizational, partnership/collaboration, and presentation skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, technical and analytical skill and experience collecting and providing feedback to drive process improvements.

  • Experience in resource allocation support.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
