The Sr. Director, Learning & Development is a high-impact role focused on driving learning excellence and leading the evolution and execution of Verizon’s Learning and Talent Technology Strategy enabling significant business transformation through innovation, driving revenue/growth, driving customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
The Sr. Director will be a thought leader, strategist and architect responsible for Learning & Talent Platforms, Applications and Reporting Leadership; Guided Performance Support Leadership; Digital Performance Support Content and Knowledge Management Leadership; and Emerging Learning / Talent Technologies & Learning Media Production Leadership. In the Talent space this role will be responsible for visioning, integrating and optimizing technology enablement for all Talent COEs (Talent Acquisition, Strategic Workforce Planning, Succession/Talent Calibration, Performance and Development, Executive staffing, careers and internal mobility). This role will be responsible for the connectivity of information and user experience across Talent COEs, with an emphasis on evolving the enterprise skills infrastructure . The Sr. Director will work collaboratively across all GL&D, Talent & DEI, HRIS, and GTS (VCG, VBG, Corporate).
This position will report to the VP-Global Learning & Development and oversee an $11M annual budget. The Sr. Director will lead a team of 91 FTEs in the US, UK, India, and Philippines (43% based in India and Philippines.) Their work supports 105K+ internal learners, 124K+ external learners, and 70K+ Verizon Business customers globally.
What you’ll be doing….
Learning / Talent Platforms, Applications and Reporting Leadership
Leads a team of learning/talent technology professionals and people leaders responsible for directional platforms and applications including Workday LMS, Degreed LXP, Watershed LRS, xAPI technology, Search, Censia, Beamery, Citizen Verizon Volunteer Portal.
Directs Workday Learning administration, catalog management, and completion records.
Directs the learning experience platform (Degreed LXP) integration with Workday and xAPI tracking technology and Learning Record Store.
Directs AI/GenAI platforms supporting Talent Acquisition and Internal Mobility
Directs the administration and governance of other learning technologies including: WebEx for vILT, The Game Agency, and Premium Content Providers (Udemy, LinkedIn Learning).
Guided Performance Support Leadership
Leads a team of learning technology professionals responsible for digital adoption training and guided performance support for Verizon Consumer & Verizon Business Sales and Customer Success/Support teams (including BPO Partners) to drive improved ramp to productivity (new hires and new customer-facing systems releases), improved rep confidence, and reduced rep turnover.
Directs Guided Performance Support platforms/applications including Nintex (Kryon), Skyllful, and Zenarate. Guides instructional design teams to create innovative learning solutions that blend simulated systems environments with guided systems support, video practice, and AI coaching.
Oversees the existing customer-facing systems training environments in partnership with VCG and VBG GTS teams ensuring training environment stability, reporting/communicating outages to GL&D delivery teams and GTS. Directs Learning in Production transition.
Digital Performance Support Content and Knowledge Management Leadership
Leads a team of content authors, editors and knowledge management technologists responsible for the internal corpus of information and source of record for Verizon products, services, pricing, promos, policies, procedures across the enterprise. Focuses heavily on delivering content at the moment of need, in the flow of work for Verizon Consumer & Verizon Business Sales and Customer Success/Support teams (including BPO partners), as well as the HR Answers team.
Directs the use of Search and GenAI technologies for knowledge presentation, right answers at the right time for end users contributing to reduced errors, employee experience/satisfaction, and customer experience/NPS.
Emerging Learning / Talent Technologies & Learning Media Production Leadership
Leads a team of learning/talent technologists responsible for assessing, building/buying, piloting/ implementing, and evaluating learning/talent tools, applications and technologies.
Leads a centralized team of multimedia professionals responsible for video production, graphic design, and high-end e-learning design, development, and programming in support of all GL&D. Sets the video, graphic, and e-learning design standards for instructional design.
Directs learning/talent technology governance including info-security/global clearance and sourcing / legal review.
Talent Technology Enablement
Leads Talent Acquisition technology enablement and user training for applicant tracking system, the Careers site, job posting/distribution technology, integrations and process design for recruiter, candidate, and/or hiring manager processes including pre-hire assessments, drug and background, digital interviewing and scheduling, immigration, relocation.
Leads the vision for cross-functional design of information flow and user experience to accelerate the Talent Strategy across Talent COEs (Performance Management and Development, Strategic Workforce Planning, Succession/Talent Calibration, Executive staffing / agency portal / confidential req process, and careers and internal mobility).
People Leadership & Team Development (Direct and Indirect Reports)
Leads GL&D Transformation for this team including onboarding, training and leading teams in US, UK, India and Philippines; ensures consistent execution of GL&D processes across all teams in all locations; evolves the “follow the sun” model.
Inspires, coaches, and elevates all team’s talent. Is a role model, consultative partner, learning/talent leader, and creative collaborator. Identifies and retains top talent by creating an inclusive and motivating environment and nurtures career growth at Verizon.
Manages team’s workload, sets priorities, allocates resources, and overcomes challenges to ensure all deliverables are on time and on budget.
Builds a culture of team engagement across teams through assessing the overall health and wellness of the team, Pulse+ action plan implementation, team meetings and team activities.
Collaborates with a broad network of internal sr. level partners in GL&D, Talent & DEI, HRIS, GTS, BU Operations to bring the right technology solutions at the right time to all learners.
Establishes measurement systems and processes to evaluate the business impact of the talent/learning platforms and solutions.
Participates as a strategic member of the Learning & Careers Sr. Leadership team providing thought leadership on and execution of the learning/talent technology strategy.

You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree, or ten (10) or more years of work experience.
Eight (8) plus years of L&D / Talent, or relevant work experience.
Five (5) plus years management experience directly leading people.
Ability to assess and evaluate data to determine ROI, user effectiveness, system functioning.
Ability to lead large remote teams in multiple countries and multiple time zones.
Experience and successful track record leading large scale, innovative technology initiatives.
