What you’ll be doing...

The Design Authority and Tier 2 Solutions Architect team is part of Verizon Business Group’s Technology Solutions organization. This is a team of solutions architects with deep domain expertise providing integrated thought leadership to our clients, sales teams and product leaders that result in transformative solutions and products. Our team creates a sustained competitive advantage in the marketplace for VBG by projecting depth, vision and execution unmatched by the competition.

The Principal Architect (PA) will be a subject matter expert on cloud technology as a critical component of our Network as a Service (NaaS), and Network strategies. The ideal candidate will enjoy selling to customers and helping them shape their technology roadmap based on best practice and thought leadership. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a passion for innovation. The primary focus and measure of success for this position will be the growth of our revenues associated with these capabilities.

Key functions of the PA will include:

  • Visible thought leadership both inside and outside Verizon.

  • Partner with our Product team to define and maintain a roadmap that will position Verizon for above market growth.

  • Identify compelling use cases, repeatable solutions and partnerships that can be scaled to drive growth.

  • Create reference architectures that allows account teams to build solutions reflecting best practice.

  • Consult broadly with account teams to drive deals to closure.

  • Maintain a high level of relevant subject matter expertise and broad market awareness.

  • Play a key partnership role to the field sales team as a technical advisor focused on driving business results for both Verizon and Verizon's clients.

This is a hybrid role. You will have the flexibility to work remotely but you'll have a defined work location and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of experience in a variety of roles related to selling of networks, security, systems integration, and managed services solutions.

  • Ability to work with teams with multiple disciplines and contribute to different functional areas.

  • A valid Driver’s license.

  • Willingness to travel (25%).

  • Technical expertise in more or more of the following areas:

    • Cloud networking and operation. Knowledge of offerings from cloud operators such as AWS, Azure and GCP, underlay vs. overlay designs, cloud-to-cloud communication
    • IP routing with focus on BGP operations.
    • Practical experience using APIs in Enterprise Environments
    • AI/ML technologies in an Enterprise Environment
    • Network and cellular technologies in Enterprise’s

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Advanced degree in technical discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence across functional areas.

  • Technical expertise with Network and cellular technologies in Enterprise’s.

  • Practical experience using Cloud Service Providers capabilities
