Job Description

When you join Verizon

You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the V Team Life.

What you’ll be doing...

We promise our customers the most reliable coverage across the country, and you’ll make sure we deliver on that promise. You’ll be a technical leader and authority in network performance for a large geographic area, proactively identifying new ways to improve speed and quality, and helping to resolve our most complex problems. We’ve got a growing customer base using more devices every day, and their expectations are high—you’ll play a key role in making sure they’re never disappointed.

  • Leading and coaching a team of Performance and RF Engineers to improve design and performance of the network.

  • Monitoring the system’s performance, including network 4G LTE, Virtual LTE/ORAN, 5G (Mobility and Home Internet) metrics, and finding ways to make improvements or mitigate potential problems.

  • Resolving service-impacting issues, sometimes using non-traditional, out-of-the-box solutions.

  • Investigating and resolving customer complaints, often through drive testing, field visits, and efforts to replicate the customer experience.

  • Working cross-functionally to deploy and optimize components for best efficiency and reliability.

  • Owning the investigation of Root Metrics/Baseline/Nielsen, and the coordination and implementation of complex network directives.

  • Crafting pre- and post-cell site/carrier add and new site build templates and checklists for 4G LTE & 5G, also making sure site/carriers are properly integrated into the network and optimized for peak performance.

What we’re looking for...

You’re a technical expert and a self starter who encourages team members and business partners to exceed expectations. You constantly see through the eyes of a customer, and you bring that perspective to everything you do. Your natural curiosity drives you to track down problems and collaborate with others to develop solutions.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

  • A valid driver's license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.

  • Knowledge of Airwave, IrisView, nGenius One, IntelliSight, or Brix.

  • Experience with scripting languages to automate tasks (e.g. Python, Javascript, etc.)

  • Experience with collecting, analyzing, charting, and interpreting large amounts of data via SQL, Python, Tableau, or other Big Data methods. Ability to take this information and turn it into actionable steps to improve the network.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
