What you’ll be doing...
The Principal Network Engineer will function as operations lead providing subject matter expertise and operational support for the team on the IMS Core Subscriber Data Management (SDM) Backend database and provisioning elements including 5G UDR, 4G OneNDS, Provisioning Gateways, and Netact Element Management Systems. The candidate must have hands on experience at an operational level demonstrating routine care and feeding via Linux/OpenStack/Webscale/Application Deployments, scripting, and automation. Must be well versed at debugging/troubleshooting techniques for the application and system infrastructure.
Installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting of 4G and 5G core network elements.
Monitoring performance, optimization, log analyzation.
Using your experience with 5G call flow and network function virtualization (NFV).
Using your knowledge of 5G security protocols and best practices.
Using your understanding of 3GPP standards and specifications related to 5G core.
Integration with exiting 5G/4G network functions.
What we’re looking for...
The candidate will need to be able to support a flexible work schedule, including overnight and weekend work as business needs dictate. The candidate will also participate in on-call rotations that provides after hours critical support to the network teams. Oversee the reporting of service KPI and analytics for the new and existing services within the operation team. This candidate will have a deep understanding of 4G and 5G call flow as well as the proficiency to take and analyze network PCAP (packet capture) on daily basis. Attend performance meetings with vendor, operations, and maintenance engineering personnel for roadmap planning. Build detailed project plans and lead weekly status calls with teams across several organizations. Provide mentoring to the other team members on networking, application design, and engineering.
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years work experience
Six or more years of relevant work experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Experience with at least one major 5G core vendor solution (e.g. Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, Oracle).
Applied leadership skills in previous work history as well as advanced working knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, Netmask, DIAMETER, SIP, LDAP, JSON, and load balancing.
Working knowledge of protocol analysis tools such as IrisView, NetScout, wireshark, tcpdump, ping, netstat.
Proficient skills with large database administration, scripting, and automation tasks (Python, yaml, ansible, JSON).
Understanding of 5G and 4G core network architecture and network functions like UDR, UDM, PCF, HSS, PCRF.
Working independently as well as within a team in a fast-paced environment as business needs dictate.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Bachelor's/Master's in technology related field.
Certification in Linux, OpenStack, Webscale, Database Admin, Cloud Security or equivalent.
In-depth knowledge of design principals of OpenStack and Webscale architecture and how networking operates in an OpenStack cloud.
Deep understanding of 5G and 4G core network architecture and network functions like UDR, UDM, PCF, HSS, PCRF.
Advanced knowledge of protocol analysis tools such as IrisView, NetScout, wireshark, tcpdump, ping, netstat.
Containerization technologies like Kubernetes, Docker.
Cloud-native principles and microservices architecture.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $100,000.00 and $187,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
