What you'll be doing..

This Principal Engineer will be responsible for playing the Technical Product Owner role for Verizon’s Global SAP S/4 HANA, ECC instances and revenue accounting systems. As a SAP product owner you will collaborate with stakeholders across Verizon Finance & Accounting teams (Record to Report, Acquire to Retire & Accounts Payable) to create unified and global solutions that enable us to optimize spend, increase process efficiency, report externally, all the while strengthening our controls.

This role will play a key part in transforming multiple ERP financial data into SAP S4 Hana as 1ERP system. The system that this product owner will support is Verizon’s global finance and single source of financial data. Your role as SAP FI Product Owner will also be to collaborate with a large team of Verizon Global Process Owners, Platform & shared services team, Implementation partners and vendors to deliver transformative solutions on the finance space.

This role will specifically focus on the Record to Report / Accounting area that includes GL Accounting, Intercompany Accounting, Account reconciliations, Consolidations, Group Reporting, Financial Statements, External Reporting as well as supporting the FP&A and FTMO functional areas. Knowledge of finance transactional processes, end-end process area mappings, analytical data and reporting are essential skills for this role to deliver cross functional ERP implementations.

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Leading the full life cycle implementation of SAP FI modules, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing and development.

  • Detailing understanding of the financial requirements and drafting functional specifications for the platform services team to consume and deliver developments

  • Providing post implementation support and troubleshooting to ensure smooth functioning of SAP FI systems

  • Customizing SAP FI modules to meet business requirements, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Group Reporting (GR) and consolidations.

  • Knowledge on Asset Accounting and reporting tools like Webi, AO and Qlik

  • Understanding of how the journal entries would play a role across different process areas.

  • Customizing experience related to FI configurations, substitutions, validations, coding blocks and sets.

  • Leading data migration, data replication and interface developments in SAP FI

  • Understanding of FI Master data attributes including Company Code, GL accounts, Cost Center, Profit Center, Market & Locations.

  • Possessing detailed implementation knowledge on data residing in ACDOCA, ACDOCU and ACDOCP tables that would impact the Financial Statements.

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to the junior resources offshore.

  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions to educate end-users and stakeholders on SAP FI functionalities and processes.

  • Owning SAP FI complete product ownership and business stakeholder communications

  • Staying current with SAP best practices, industry trends and upcoming releases to recommend innovative and AI solutions.

  • Managing the Month end, Quarter end and year end close activities.

  • Performing and evaluating SOX controls.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience working in SAP FICO module.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Possess experience as FICO lead consultant in SAP ECC / S4 Hana environments

  • Experience with a strong design background in SAP Finance & Accounting.

  • Expertise in Functional proficiency with full lifecycle SAP and/or ERP implementations.

  • Implementation experience in SAP S/4HANA landscape for Accounting areas that includes GL Accounting, Intercompany Accounting, Account reconciliations, Group Reporting, Consolidations, Financial Statements, External Reporting.

  • SAP Finance and Accounting - technical and functional architecture and data modeling skills along with new and emerging SAP capabilities.

  • Good understanding of the SAP end to end processes like SAP SD, MM, FICO and Agile delivery expertise in an ERP landscape.

  • Experiencing managing across multiple time zones.

  • Experience in telecommunications domain.

  • Have training and/or certifications in the Teradata, GCP, Oracle product family.

  • Ability to develop, manage, and mentor junior staff.

  • Possess organizational skills to coordinate and manage multiple cross divisional work processes and projects.
