What you’ll be doing...
As an Outside Plant Engineer, you will manage a variety of internal and external partners and vendors to oversee OSP/ISP construction and maintenance of network extension projects to deliver fiber to new and existing customers. Your vital role will ensure that these multi-stakeholder, complex projects are delivered on time, to specifications, and within budget. You will be managing all engineering and construction activities of assigned projects associated with expanding and maintaining the OSP network infrastructure.
Leading engineering efforts on multiple projects, driving productivity through use of vendor resources to meet deliverables.
Engaging appropriate internal and external organizations and individuals with good written/verbal communications to accomplish required tasks with focus on quality and speed to market.
Coordinating project activities with contractors, developers, municipalities and consultants.
Proposing solutions supported by sound engineering and operational productivity to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
Analyzing implications of changes from the original schedule and taking required corrective actions to ensure the project stays on track.
Recognizing vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and making intelligent decisions to ensure reliability within financial constraints.
Preparing detailed cost analysis, project specifications, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications.
Processing reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative duties.
Performing field meetings, inspection of construction in progress, and quality control of final product to ensure company requirements are met.
Communicating project status and progress to team members and customers.
Responding immediately to network outages, coordinating necessary resources and activities for prompt and appropriate restoral.

While you work well independently, you are also a great teammate and enjoy leading colleagues and coordinating efforts to ensure the best outcomes. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you balance multiple assignments and opposing priorities while staying passionate about important deadlines. As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.
You’ll need to have:
Associate’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
Valid Driver's license.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Knowledge of engineering/design and review, extensive construction and field knowledge, working knowledge with South Florida area jurisdictions and permitting requirements/processes.
Telecom Network Operations experience - splicing, testing, repair and maintenance of large count fiber optic cables
Experience preparing detailed cost analysis, project specifications, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
Experience in CAD, 3GIS, ARCGIS, Google Earth or other mapping and drafting software.
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Experience in corporate data and reporting platforms (Excel, Tableau, Cheetah, or others).

Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
