What you’ll be doing…
Your role is to support and engage our greatest asset—our people. Using your human resources (HR) generalist skills, Japan and Korea regulatory knowledge, and administrative expertise, you’ll operationally support and guide our clients across Japan and Korea through all stages of their journey with Verizon from onboarding to separation, and everything in between.
Working across both the HR Operations and the HR Business Partner functions, your key responsibilities are to process all day to day employee transactions and ensure compliance in all aspects of HR within Japan and Korea (including all related processes, policies and employee relations (ER) matters). An additional key responsibility is to lead engagement and culture initiatives across Japan and Korea.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee transactions
Provide operational support and expertise in transactions related to hires and onboarding, background investigation, terminations, compensation changes, org management changes, country transfers, job changes etc.
Answer customer enquiries through Workday Help, meeting SLAs and ensuring quality responses
Monitor and maintain various HR tools and systems, such as Workday, Inside Verizon, Workcloud, WSS etc.
HR compliance & employee relations
Confirm data accuracy and maintain appropriate controls for audit verification including ensuring the Japanese Rules of Employment document is updated with any change in employment rules.
Work with Government bodies for tax, pension fund and benefit related reporting
Maintain compliance with all relevant employee regulatory requirements and government reporting and ensure any regulatory changes are adopted and reflected in our policies and processes
Provide guidance on HR policy and procedure development and implementation.
Provide guidance and support to management on a range of employee relations matters (e.g. performance, misconduct, separation etc) through to resolution
Engagement and culture
Partnering with business leaders and other support functions, lead and participate in the implementation of global/regional projects related to employee engagement, culture, wellbeing, etc at a local level, and leverage data and technology to identify further opportunities to improve the employee experience.
Other
Identify and recommend routine improvements to operating efficiency and productivity. Advise management of opportunities to modify existing processes
Openly share relevant business experience and expertise and stay current on HR trends in support of the wider HR community
Partner with global and regional HR teams on alignment of HR initiatives, business group support and issues/escalations and ensuring local alignment to international/global objectives
Champion the use of HR data and analytics to identify trends, inform decision making and enhance HR effectiveness.
What we are looking for…
You share our belief that people are our most important asset.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a relevant discipline.
Four or more years experience in an HR generalist position.
Current knowledge of legislative and employment laws for Japan.
Demonstrated experience in managing HR compliance activities and employee relations cases including negotiating complex employment contractual situations.
Experience in leading employee engagement and culture programs.
Experience processing transactions through an HR platform.
Fluency in Japanese and English language.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Strong administrative skills and customer service mentality
Experience working with Workday
Current knowledge of legislative and employment laws for Korea (preferable).
Business level Korean language fluency
Consulting skills and experience with conflict resolution
Good interpersonal and strong communication and presentation skills with a sense of integrity, authenticity and fairness
Ability to provide coaching and training as required.
