At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the V Team Life.

What you’ll be doing…

Be a driving force in the future of telecommunications! We’re seeking a passionate and skilled Solution Architect (Distinguished Engineer) to join our world-class team building a cutting-edge centralized platform for autonomous network use cases. Utilizing the latest in AI/ML technologies, we’re developing end-to-end solutions that will revolutionize network and customer experiences.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with a diverse group of engineers, product owners, and industry experts to design and architect strategic solutions.

  • Leverage your deep understanding of multi-tier application development frameworks to drive end-to-end architecture design.

  • Provide technical leadership on the autonomous network platform team, drawing on your extensive knowledge of relevant processes, methodologies, and technologies.

  • Guide cross-functional teams in crafting innovative solutions, clearly communicating the impact on existing systems and processes.

  • Champion industry best practices, incorporating emerging tools and technologies in the autonomous network domain.

  • Define and document architectural requirements, prepare project estimations, and propose innovative technical solutions.

  • Participate in all phases of solution development, from initial planning and design to implementation and go-live, ensuring alignment with SOE/SRE standards.

  • Design and develop reusable, scalable data models that effectively meet business needs.

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence by advocating for best software engineering practices and actively participating in code and design reviews.

  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to establish and document high-level solution intent.

Where you’ll be working…

In this hybrid role, you’ll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for…

We seek passionate individuals driven by data and its potential to revolutionize industries. You are a forward-thinking architect who thrives in fast-paced environments, collaborating effectively to deliver exceptional results.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and eight or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Solid understanding of network domain principles and concepts.

  • Extensive experience designing and building complex, enterprise-grade architectural solutions with a data and AI-first approach.

  • Proven ability to architect solutions for modernization and migration projects.

  • Strong proficiency in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Python, React, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Extensive experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra) and PL/SQL.

  • Strong experience in building workflow/orchestration engines.

  • Practical experience with DevOps tools and practices, including SRE, Splunk, New Relic, Catchpoint, Prometheus, and security tools.

  • Experience working with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its suite of technologies, including BigQuery, Composer, Dataflow using Apache Beam, and Pub/Sub.

  • Expertise in stream-processing systems using Kafka, Pulsar, or similar technologies.

  • Proficiency in object-oriented/object function scripting languages.

  • Experience building solutions leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Active contribution to industry forums such as TMForum, or MEF.

  • GCP certifications.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage partner expectations.

  • In-depth knowledge of wireline/wireless networks and services.

  • Experience leading teams of OSS/BSS application designers and architects.

  • Prior experience in the telecommunications industry.

  • Strong ability to analyze data, extract meaningful insights, and create compelling data visualizations.

  • Experience leading teams through large-scale code refactoring and improving coding standards across extensive codebases.

If you’re passionate about data and its transformative potential, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy collaborating with talented individuals to achieve remarkable outcomes, we encourage you to apply! Don’t hesitate even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification; your unique skills and experience are valuable to us.
